and you must be a physicist
you beat me to it...that's what I get for not reading all subsequent posts before posting

Because the Torsion bar is rotating, should we not be using the moment of inertia WRT to the longitudinal axis of the bar. Furthermore the amount of rotation decreases as you move along the bar towards the center attachment point. I would estimate that a Tbar could be considered 0.001% unsprung mass

See, I am just screwed up. Engineering type with a nuclear physicist for a father (brother is an EE but gave that up for the MBA thing).

Just to really fudge things up I picked up a fine art degree too….I argue with myself a lot…

How much does a 25,5 (?) mm. torsion bar for a 951S weigh ?
Total of two t-bars = 11 pounds.

Its probably still better to talk about mass. F=ma, and a != g in all scenarios, such as cornering.

g (or acell due to gravity) is always present, although their may be other components involved...
but not when you're 'weighing' something
also, we should always be talking about the forces which are acting on our system, ie, in this case Weight... not F = m x d2s/dt2

I agree, in a system with no inertial reference frame, mass is the way to go...
but we have one...the g field...

even in aircraft, fuel load is measured in lbs (F) not slugs...
and g's are quite important in aviation... lol
