Largest tires on 16x7 & 8 phonedials???

What are the largest tires people are running on their phonedials (16x7 and 16x8) for the track? Are 245/45/16 and 265/45/16 too much tire?

I think that is too wide, and I think that the tire manufacturers will agree. Although you can likely mount them and the beads will hold air - the sidewall bulges so much that is distorts the tire profile, and you get excessive wear on part of the shoulder that the mfg did not intend, especially for track use.

I would run 225s and 245s on 7s and 8s for track duty.

Hoosiers...
...for autocross I run that 245 up front, but have a 9" rim at the rear with a 275 though.
However, I think a 265 would work alright on an 8".

I have 265/45 in the rear.

I have 225/245 hoosiers on 7/8 and they work well.
