She won't start when I give it gas??
Hi guys---just changed engines and replaced the engine wiring harness---the car has a split second/mass flow.
When I go to start the car cold if I give it any gas it is a no go----but if I don't give it gas it may start after several attempts and then runs ok(in the garage anyway)---but even harder to start this way when it is hot and still a no go by giving it gas.
I can hear the fuel pump when I let off of the starter---
Once it starts---to run smoothly it needs a little bit of a rich mixture via the split second.
Could it be one of the reference/rpm sensors is not set correctly?
Any thoughts appreciated

It looks that you are dumping the incorrect amount of fuel on start-up. When you give it gas, you open the throttle body, the TPS signals a Part Throttle to the DME. The fueling in the DME is different between IDLE and PT.
Get the engine warm, set your AFR to 14.7 at idle. Now you can experiment with the cold start as your setup will be closer.Keep in mind, a change in temperature will affect your setup and your Air Fuel Ratio.
Since you are converting the MAF signal via the SS controller to look like a AFM signal to the DME, temperature compensation is off as the MAF works differently than the stock AFM. (The DME has no idea that you have a MAF and still thinks its a AFM).

John---thanks for the reply---the settings on the SS are the same as when I had the other engine in the car----I think I will review the wiring--as the harness has changed?
