Need Oil Catch Can...which one??

Haha. While typically used when referring to the solidification of a liquid as it cools, heterogeneous nucleation can also refer to the condensing of a gaseous state as well. To put it simply, you need a substrate to provide nucleation sites (in this case, the brillo pad, or the walls of the catch can) in order for the gaseous state to condense. Without heterogeneous nucleation sites, the material (or liquid, in this case) will nucleate homogeneously, which is has a much lower probability. We see this phenomenon every day: this is why water condenses on the bottle and not necessarily out of thin air, or why materials solidify from the outside, in.

Hmmm. I suppose one of these would be pretty silly to add if your turbo bearing is blowing oil, eh?
Note to self: Need to find replacement turbo. 27/6 7200 would be nice.
