WTB: 17X11 or 17X10.5 Track wheels for Widebody 951

I just bought a 951 race car with a complete widebody kit. It has 265X45X16 inch tires on 16X9.5 BBS RS rims in the rear. They don't come close to filling out the rear fender wells. I am looking for two 17X11 or 17X10.5 track wheels to mount 295, 305 or 315X17 rear tires. I know it easier to find wide 18 inch wheels, but I would like to keep the tire cost down.

Update: I just bought a set of 17X12 and 17X10 BBS 3 Piece racing wheels. The rears fit perfectly and clear inside and out with 315X17 Advan 032R tires. The fronts will need a spacer and a smaller outer lip to clear the brakes and fender edge. I'm Working on that now. In the meantime if anyone has a set of cheap, light 17X8.5 or 9 with around a +50 offset, I'd be interested. If anyone would like to swap .5 inch halves for my 1.5 inch halves, I'd also be interested.

I bought spacer/adapters 1.25" thick to Mustang wheel spacing. Bought mustang wheels. Cheap 17x10.5 were $500 for all 4. pushed out to edge perfectly.

Then buy something like these and install.

I don't think those adapters are legal in PCA racing. They may be OK in NASA. Anyone using these in race cars? Experience?

Here is a picture from the previous owner, Dougoh. Even with rear spacers there is about 2 inches between the tire and the rear quarter.

new set of REV REPLICA FR-500 CHROME WHEELS
Size 17 x 9 front 17 x 10 1/2 rear
Bolt pattern 5 on 4 1/2
Offset +24mm front +24mm rear
FIt 94 TO 04 MUSTANGS
THESE ARE MUSTANG STYLE FR-500 WHEELS
Actually 5 x 4 1/2" as shown is not 5 x 130 it is 5 x 114.3

So then? Are those the type of spacers VW guys use to install Porsche wheels?

95ONE 01-31-2009 12:39 PM

The spacers are also adapters. they receive the 5x130. but the studs that extend are a 5x114 bolt pattern.

And as far as the rules I've read, they should be just fine for PCA.

johntorg 01-31-2009 04:25 PM

I thought I saw it in the PCA rules, but the only thing it forbids are "overly" thick spacers that put extra stress on the bearings and suspension. There doesn't seem to be a definition of overly thick.

Still looking for 17X10.5 or 11.0 5X130 rims. If nothing turns I may go with the adapters.

John if you continue to have the most awesome collection of cars i am going to continue to heckle every post of yours in a mist of green rage .You are basicly living in a porno movie.
so if you go out to garage one day and the locks are changed I've flipped out with envy and locked myself in there .
