Well what's it been, 5 mins since the last "How do you like my new wheels?" thread...

Did anybody ever read about the lightweight carbon fiber wheels made by Dymag.
A lot of 996 and 997 owners have purchased these but just don't let them see these pictures:
There are now quite a few reports of these wheels failing with what can only be described as “Spectacular Results”
These pictures were from a Dymag wheel fitted to a 997.

Where did you source the wheels? I am having a hell of a time finding Porsche fitments for the race car in 16". I figure Enkei might have something. I know OZ makes the Superleggera in 16x7", which is what I want, but TireRack is no help and claims no Porsche fitment.

You can purchase the same Enkei NT03+M wheels that Patrick has here: http://www.outperformanceshop.com/Se...x=7&Search.y=9
The smallest they do is 17". Why do you need 16"?

TIRERACK are unbelievably hopeless. You might be better trying Damon directly. Go onto the 'Wheels & Tires' forum and email him. He's the only T/R employee that I've had any joy out of. Everytime I email a generic salesperson at T/R they come back with either Nothing or something even less worthwhile. Complete nincompoops in their sales team!! My most recent efforts of getting a quote to send some BFG tyres down here was like something out of a Monty Python movie. Avoid Bart at T/R unless you've got a lot of time on your hands and don't want any answers at all. Total Numbnut!

I can't wait either just quietly. After going back and forth (under some good advice) on the prospective tyres I think I'm going to try and get the 280s all round.

But how hard is it to change the centrepiece hole pattern?

Well I'm gonna guess that since they probably make the most 4x100/4x114.3 and 5x114.3 or whatever...as those seem to be the most popular. So when they go and put the 5x130 on there the bolt circle diamter might be too big to fit on the "hub section" so they have to redesign the wheel to extend the "hub section" and decrease the "spoke length".
All speculation, but it makes sense in my mind.
But like you said, it shouldn't be hard to do...my guess is most wheel manufacturers don't find a big enough market to make porsche wheels and they stick to either domestic (ford/chevy) pattern wheels or they do import wheels (honda/nissan). Those manufacturers that do decide to make 5x130 wheels most likely market them at the 911 crowd and know they can make more money off them..hence higher prices.

Some trial fitting of both wheels and larger tyres.
Alex I tend to think you're right and would add another part to the equation....the letter 'P'
Here's a few quick crappy pics of them on the car this morning. The first ones are with a Pirelli Corsa Nero 295/30 x 18" on the front. Virtually no neg on there and these fit...just. Not much clearance inside (maybe 5mm?) and not a lot on the outside. We can raise the ride height a little or roll the guard, but it did just fit. We then also tried a Falken slick 285/650 x 18" which was a taller tyre overall. It also just fit. Better on the inside. Then tried it on the rear. Jacked the car up on the floor on the front left hand side so as to load up the rear and see if it made any contact. None, but very close to the front of the guard. So it looks like we can fit at least 285s all round. You can fit wider on the rears but I would need a wider than 10" wheel and they don't make the Enkei in this size for Porsche. Also find for curiosity's sake a picture of a RHD steering shaft and crossmember. That's why you guys have that kink in your headers to allow for our s/shaft....sorry.
