Default 2009 Project

My 951 was daily driver for a year or so, then sat waiting for me to recover from an ATV accident. Its getting WP, belts, rollers, cam housing seals, etc. I just finished the seals on the CH last nite and stood back to admire my work. The shop-cat was staring at the front 16" phonie. He was taking in the simplicity and pure function of that light German wheel. I was proud, right until he turned his head away from the wheel, in disgust. I was embarrassed.

So, this morning I went to the back room and pulled out an 18X8.5 front. I swear he smiled, no kidding...

The Max chips, FPR are in. Test pipe and possible Tial to do.

Paint prep is next. Should be shiny and nice by Spring.

Thanks to everyone on here for the tips that make this project fun.

Hey Sam, I'm in Brownsburg, but work near the Fort. I'll be doing the painting. I've painted cars, bikes, planes, so its a gravy job doing this one. It'll be boring Guards red with clearcoat. The temptation for 968 door handles and mirrors is kicking my ***! I'll be watching for Indy GTG's. If you, or anyone else wants to help wrench, I've got a warm shop and cold beer. I'll even buy expensive stuff for the poor bastard that wants to get involved in exhaust work! :-)

Yep, they were on CL. Seller dropped the price, so I just had to see them. Made a ridiculous offer and when Christmas got close he took it. Dropped them at Mr Wheel in Fortville for reconditioning and they turned out fantastic. I had a 275/35-18 (used) mounted on one of the rear 10.5s for checking fitment. The tire looks a little stretched, so it may get 285/30s. That'll happen after paint. I'm not a bling freak, but Gemballa's Racing wheels turn me on. I didnt want to spend more on wheels than I did on the car, so these were a good compromise, plus the offsets were 46 and 40, so minimal spacers. Got the WP off after work today. Its the first WP I've ever replaced that didn't have a damned thing wrong with it. Tight bearing, good seals. Does anyone on here dare tempt the WP Gods and change it every other TB?

I saw those wheels on CL as well, good buy. I have used Mr. Wheels up in fortville a number of times and they are getting my Kinesis' this winter. Good guys.
