Default Rear Mounted Radiator?

Hi Guy's,

I am currently building from scratch a new shell for my race car, and had noticed some of the guy's in the US mounting the rad in the rear of the car. I understand the weight benefits, but have a Q re the airflow throgh the radiator.
Do the 951's aerodynamics cause/require the rad to to be fed from the underside due to possible positive pressure under the rear, and vented out of the back (such as between the rear lights),or is the opposite true, i.e fed from topside and vented out of the underside of the car?
Seems a weird Q i know, but as i am starting with a blank sheet here,i want to investigate all options.

Regards,

Steve

I'd do split rads in the front venting into the wheel wells. That way the front center can be used for the intercooler.

That's what Fabcar did in the '80s/'90s.

Check out the 'old' files on the Lindsey site - they tried the rear radiator and went back to conventional mounting.

that blue and yellow KOKELN car did that have it in the back ?. as it had a big roof scoop.
it had some pretty crazy aero developments happening with the cut outs behind the front wheels

Here is how I replaced the stock oil cooler and added a second on the drivers side with aluminum ducting.
They are 13row 235 Setrab coolers using the lower intake on the front bumber and exit into the wheel wells, they provide plenty of cooling capacity for a chipped 2.5L turbo S DE car.

I always assumed the rear cooler on the Kokeln car was a transmission cooler?
