Could it result in crankshaft failure?

Good question - it theory it can set up harmfull harmonics...but the stock crank forging is so tough I haven't seen any issues. Keep in mind that we, as a gorup, are continuing to find more and more power/RPM out of these engines so I would hate to say that it is a non issue - there is no real down side to using a harmonic damper.

Ok I'll interpret for you
430/550 means 430 hp / 550 nm.
At the crank = BHP and not WHP.
So around 365-380 rwhp.

Love that last sentence George. Must you be so cruel lol.

Phlip, what intake is that? Doesn't look quite the JME one...

EDIT: Sorry, read that post at 5.45am and not awake. Now I see what it is. Thanks Darwin.

In PET the pulley for the 944 S2 (M44/41) is labeled "vibration damper" whereas the one for the 968 (M44/43 M44/44) is labeled "pulley". Parts numbers are different
Might the 968 pulley actually have no impact as a harmonic damper given the presence of the dual mass flywheel ?

Good question - I will double check. I know the 968 pully is different - it has 8 bolt holes instead of 4, but I can't recall if it is a damper as well. I think so but not 100% sure.

Well, as I only have the 968 pulley that belongs to my shortblock I would be happy to be proved incorrect !
