Hello Rennlist *new owner of rennlist 951*

My lurking days are over! :icon107:

I'm the proud new owner of a former rennlist car. I bought this car from Rhob about a month ago in Memphis and drove it back to the Seattle area with no problems or tickets. :D It's the 2nd 951 I've owned, the first being an '86 alpine white about 10 years ago. Amazingly, this one is in better condition. Ski did a rebuild along with Rhob on this metallic grey '86 951. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=64058

Rhob took good care of it for the 8,000 miles he drove it as a DD. When I picked it up he supplied me with a nice collection of spare parts and records. He even threw in some emergency road repair parts just in case the 2500 mile drive back to Seattle got interesting.

I took some photos of it in it's new west coast home because I know you guys love pics!

Now that it's home, I've been using it as a DD by day and an outlet for my OCD by night. I forgot how much fun it can be hunting down rattles, electrical gremlins, and other age induced oddities. (yes, I've got the sickness) I've already made a list of planned upgrades to prep it for the occasional DE. I plan on keeping it tame so it's still highly street friendly but a safe and dependable car for DEs.

Rennlist is Porsche enthusiast utopia and I'm really looking forward to being part of the community. I'll keep you all posted on what I do with the car and will likely pester you with some questions from time to time.

See you around.

Brad

BTW, Thanks Brett (ski) and Rhob for taking great care of this car.

You couldn't have bought a car from better people. Enjoy.

Glad you got it all that way with no issues, not that I thought you would have any.

My only gripe with that car was when we started taking things apart and some of the rusty bolts and nuts, no doubt from a bit of salt in Green Bay. were hell to break. When the body shop repainted it, they found one little sport of rust in the lower rocker and repaired that really nice.

That is one of the smoothest driving, boosting, and shifting 944 turbos. The 340 kit worked out well on that car. Best of luck with it. Man those lips on the Fuchs polish up nice.

Thanks, it does have that graphite look in brighter light and in the shade it gets closer to black. I'd never seen the color before but my brother tells me his first 944 was that color from the factory. There are 2 shades of factory specialty paint this could be, Slate Grey Metallic and Graphite Metallic. I'm not positive which this is.

They do have a nice twinkle to them don't they ;) I want to get another set of rims for track tires but nice Fuchs are $ so I'm exploring my options on rims for my second set.

The photo documentation of the rebuild and repaint was one of the big reasons I bought this car, "doing it right" is easier said than done. The photos were a nice confidence booster when buying a 23 year old vehicle sight unseen 2500 miles away.

Sounds like they salt there roads in Green Bay. /shudder
This car will never see a salted road as long as I have it.

Is that Mt Rainier in the background?? I used to party in the Seattle area a lot back in the day. Would fly in 5 times a year or so. Sure do miss the views! Car looks great, I'm sure you will keep taking care of it.

That is Mount Rainier in the background. We took that shot from Commencement Bay in Tacoma. Seattle is just to the north about 30 minutes.

Yeah it's a real blast from the past to have a 951 again. I was living in Tempe Arizona at the time I owned my last Porsche 951. I don't know where it ended up but chances are slim that I was a previous owner of your car, but you never know :)

All I know for sure is this new one is much peppier!

Welcome! Looks like you got yourself into a well sorted car. The color/wheel combo looks great!
