There are three wires, 2 grey and one brown. Do I connect them all ? I cant seem to get my light to go on.

I just pulled my ash tray out... I don't have a light in there. How did everyone else wire their gauges? I would go from the sterio, but I don't know which ones to use.

Even if you do not have a light in the ash tray you might still have the lead, it might be tucked up behind the radio as I believe that the wire is in the same harness the various console switches.

do you recall what color the cables were? My sterio is uninstalled and there is 15 unconnected wires behind my sterio. Can I tap into a sterio wire? TIA for the help guys

If your looking for switched power, constant power, or dimming dash/console lights simply find whatever stock device is closest to your gauge and splice into the wire powering that. A test light works better then a voltmeter for this. Generally the easiest is to use the radio power wires since many people have replaced a radio themselves and are familiar with the wiring.

I'll look at what I did when I get home. I tapped into the ash tray light because it is switched power and dims with the rest of the lights. In the mean time do you have a wiring diagram? If so you can tell from that which wire is hot.

IIRC I terminated one and connected the other two using bullet connectors. Be aware they are connected to the headlight switch so you will not get power to them if it is off. Using a multimeter, you should be able to figure out which ones carry power when the switch is in the on position.
As Darwin said, the nice thing about this configuration is that it is also connected to the dimmer which means that your dimmer will control the gauge lighting.
