Default Big Blacks and rotors

For those on the fence of upgrading brakes - track or street, Sunset Porsche has new Big Black calipers for $292 ea, and C2 3.6 turbo rotors for $150 ea. I didn't get a price on the 928 GTS rotor which should be a bit cheaper than the 3.6 turbo drilled rotor; both of the rotors are direct fit for 87-88 cars. So with the adaptor plates, minus pads it comes in at $1048 + ship. Pads, well I'm working on that.

Just ordered these and the solid rotors are more than the drilled. I went with the solids ((GTS) because of the cracking issues. I even had to wait an extra two weeks to get them. I went with Hawk Blues for pads. No track time yet so I can't say how they will work.

I did the same only I got the two piece 993tt rotors and will get some light weight top hats. The 993tt rotors are around $20 more each than the 3.6 turbo ones. I went with Pagid Blacks up front and Orange for the rear.

What´s involved with fitting these to a later 1990 car currently sporting M030 struts?

Direct bolt up - no need to use the adapters with M030... if you use the 2 piece 993tt rotors you'll need different top hats like LR sells. Otherwise you can use the C2 3.6 turbo or 928 GTS rotors.

Any ideas on the weight differences with the various rotors?

Not sure of the weight but here's a photo.

I've had no cracking on the drilled rotors on the street car, nor the ones on the track car but they are cryo treated. They may start having the little lines this year who knows - hopefully, we're back on the pavement this fall.

edit - sorry, you said rotors not calipers.

Well, the LR hats have a shipping weight of 5 lbs. My calipers were 19 lbs including a set of anti vibration dampeners and packing. The rotors (without hats) with a full set of factory manuals (which were supposed to be 35 to 37 lbs) and packaging weigh 61 lbs. I'll weigh them weigh I get them.
