How do you have your TIAL wastegate setup?
I currently have mine installed according to the tial directions. (That is with the bottom of the wastegate facing the crossover pipe, and the side of wastegate facing towards the dump tube.)
Does anyone have theres setup the other way around? where intead of the exhuast pressures forcing the valve open it forces it closed. |
I dont get why you would intentionally install it backwards.. ? Your boost would never bleed off.. the car would be ultra fast for about 5 seconds before you blew the headgasket.

It would NEVER open. I though this thread was going to be about how theyre mounted, adaptor plates or weld. Has anybody welded theirs directly on the crossover? I would like to do so in order to eliminate a few possible places for it to start leaking. anyone have pics

the 46 bolts up without adaptors?

The little pipe does iirc. This big pipe is from SFR.

Bottom of the waste gate attaches to the piece off of the cross member.

To my knowledge the 46mm uses the same adaptor. |
xsboost has the correct picture.

Is there enough room for the new wg in the space previously occupied by the stock wg? Is the new Tial wg mounted 90 degrees counterclockwise compared to the old?

Reading this old thread and reviewing your pic. I'm seriously considering replacing my stock 196 951 wg with a Tial 46 and I just purchased a full 3" exhaust from SFR. I just want to confirm the new Tial 46 wg compared to the old stock wg. Is the new wg rotated a little less than 90 degrees counterclockwise? If so, there's enough room in the space of the old wg? There's the torque tube just to the left.

What was supposed to take 3 weeks for SFR to build, ended up taking almost 4 months to pick up 99% of the new full exhaust (downpipe to tip). Now I'm waiting for Tim to weld the 2 hole bracket and flared flange so I can get the stock wg working and the car back on the road. I bought another wg dump pipe, which is where I got the 2 hole bracket instead of having him cut the stock behemoth cat & dump pipe section, and he will weld the adapter plate to it.
