Has anyone sat in the real thing? These look like a reasonable copy though.

It says in the questions that they arent at this time FIA certified isnt that going to be a problem when you track it?

Patrick,

Does your track require FIA certification on the seats?

Q- Are these seats FIA certified?
A- At this time they have no FIA Approval, but they are just as safe as the real ones, the carbon fiber shell is very resistant and all seat bracket mounts are high impact resistant.

Well we probably do require FIA, but actually maybe not. At least at club level they don't check. Once you start racing properly then sure, but I'd never race this car door handle to door handle. I'd make a proper racecar from ground up.
Has anyone sat in a real GT3? I've got a Sparco FIA raceseat now and a cheap non-approved passenger seat as nobody is ever in the car...hey not even me lol, but I was thinking of updating to a matching pair and I like the look of the GT3 ones.

lot of money for replica of unknown quality IMO

That proce range opens you up to numerous seat options..........
my money would go much further in an aftermarket certified race seat

I will not buy an off brand seat ever again, been there with a cheap Recaro ripoff. If you don't like these seats for any reason, the resale is probably $100. They look real nice, but as the others have said, for that money I want a known name and certified.

Thanks guys. Yes it was more of an enquiry to get some feedback. I could just stick with what I have but having the matching pair is appealing.
Thanks Rod, I'll check it out.

Similar clone seats can be bought from China for $250/pair including all necessary hardware. Ofcourse you have to buy between 50-100 units of them....
I suppose those seats are made either in China or Mexico

Perhaps it's just me but I would never buy a non FIA certified seat. Fibre glass and carbon fibre are very sharp when broken plus I don't want to save money on risking having the seat break in two during a crash..

There are two companies making these seats ... one based in China and one based in Taiwan.

You can actually buy these cheaper in the UK on ebay for nearly half the price (none of these seats carry and safety approval).

I have seen both seats and whilst the quality looks very good I have heard reports on other forums that the backs of the seats twist under load on track due to there thin backs - Wheather this is true or not I do not know.

Here is a link to the better quality version ones: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GT3-style-pors...sid=p1638.m118

Please remember that seats are like a pair of shoes - To big and they slide about ... to small and you may as well throw them in the bin so best to sit in a set first before making a purchase.

But I'm sure if they only come in one fit size so if that's anything like the originals then they are really to wide for track use.

They do look the bollox though

Have a look at this Kevlar FIA approved alternative which I can highly recommend: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kevlar-Racing-...sid=p1638.m118

Well I'll have to check them out. Seems as thought they're made for a company here in OZ. look nice. Do you have one/two in your car? What about all the rails etc. do they need modifications?

I have a friend who has a set fitted to his M3 and they are fantastic quality and fit me well (I'm 6'2" tall and 14 stone).

The lateral support is also much better than the Recaro GT3's which are more for show, comfort and lightweight and not tight fitting.

I have a friend in Switerland who has another option fited to his car which are almost exactly the same as fitted to the original 968CS - I will upload some pics for you later but with these seats I posed before being located in Auz you would best off be sending them an email as the price is excellent and Kevlar is super strong.

They basically look very like the Sparco seat I already have. Maybe I should just try and get another one of those? Thing is the Sparco isn't the most comfortable seat for the passenger on the road, but there's seldom anyone there anyway. I googled PPM and came up with some NASCAR part company in the US so not sure who this company is in Australia?
