Default How to twin turbo your 951- step one...

find two turbos- any size doesnt really matter - and just stack them on top of the motor any way you like.... - Damn you sam your turbo just looks cooler than mine....

ok this is just a progress thread on a rennlisters car that im working on so he can follow the pictures of what i screwed up- i mean what ive done so far. Enjoy....

so far i havent touched the car- im scared! The new engine is gone through hanging on the stand so since its arrived ive cleaned it up some, sprayed the head silver to get rid of some stains that just wouldnt leave, mounted some brakets, swapped the crank seals and installed the swain coated headers. Ive also been sorting through the boxes of parts that arrived w/ the car and second motor. If anyone has a full set of 88-89 belt covers we really need a set to get this moving or else we'll be running campeck style- no belt covers biatch!

Are you sure that you have torqued down that cylinder had properly?

mm but it really is pretty pointless to twinturbo a inline 4, unless you stage them or similar.

man some of you guys really pay attention to detail. Now that you point out the head studs it does look strange. Assuming the head is torqued down it looks like someone reinstalled the head studs and didn't measure height. I suppose it's not a big deal but interesting to see. NIce, job, good work... continue.

We didnt touch the head studs so that must have been something from the PO...head was torqued down per factory specs.

ONE grain of sand (can you imagine, just how small ONE grain of sand really is), left a nice score in my block when rebuilding the cylinder head. I got away with it, doesn't catch my nail, compression, leak down and oil consumption have never been better. But the engine knocking on idle (the sound) because of a small tiny grain, caused me to be more and more cautious and triple check everything by the book to make sure.

So yeah, paying attention to any detail is pretty much means everything.

If you're not coating the ex header or downpipe, now is the perfect time to wrap them.

Yes, I am.

Sam, are those SFR hardpipes?

Nice to see the progress Dan, I was hoping you would start a thread on this.

The turbo->IC pipe is actually an old Huntley pipe I picked up off fleabay, the IC->TB pipe is a 2.25 aluminum SFR pipe...

So why are the heatshields JotHot coated? I thought that when you coat the headers you take the heatshieds off. Am i missing something?
