Wastegate Rebuilding need input Thanks New Pics !!
Ok I bought this wastegate, it was in stock condition along with a few other parts from another member.
Come to find out the diagphram must be bad because it will not hold vacuum
but anyway this is the mod I wanted to try. I tapped the side of the wastegate and used JB weld for extra precaution. I also put screws in all the vent holes with brass washers. The threaded nipple I added to screwed in tight, I think it will be duarable.
Also with a bad diagphram this wastegate is useless correct ?
I have pulled the LR wastegates apart and their diagphrams are replaceable. I guess if you could cut open the seem of the wastegate and split it apart then it would be possible to repalce the diagphram. Let me know.........

yeah, with all the weight your wastegate carries I wouldn't bother modding one. The only way to replace the diaphram is to replace the dome you already tapped into... which leads me to my first comment.

Once again the tap in the dome is strong !! I could mig weld it, if it were a track car !! What makes everyone think the aftermarket wastegates are so much better than factory gates? I believe that if the diagphram was not bad on this gate, it would be just as good as aftermarket , without the expense. This modd was 5.70 so you bet the judge........... i guess the JB weld is making the mod look rigged, it was just for sealing and extra precaution. The next one I will mig weld a port in the lower part of the dome.

I hear what you're saying and I sympathize with you. I just bought a damn tial wastegate and I hated spending every penny but the fact is the factory wastegate is 20+years old. Also I'm going to be running more than the factory 12 pounds so I haven't got a good shot at getting the factory wastegate to keep up, the spring isn't sufficient. If you can make the factory wastegate meet your needs then Im happy for you but the odds are against it lasting.

I like to imagine the day when my wastegate wont flow enough to regulate boost pressure (:
Maybe someday I'll have a nice 50psi 1000rwhp 2.5l 10000 rpm high speed sprint motor.

For $5.70, I'd say try it on another one and post back with the results. It's got to help if plumbed correctly. Don't get me wrong I love my Tial, but it cost more than a hamburger.

That's the old school way to make the stock wastegate into a dual port. It does work, but the aftermarket has made bolt on ones with fresh (and replaceable) internals available.
I agree if the stocker is in good working condition and you're looking for a cheap upgrade, this is hard to beat. Also I would look into brazing the holes shut, you don't want a ball of burning weld slag to melt through the diaphram. With either method you will want to keep the case cool while filling the holes and attaching the barb fitting.
