Fantastic example! Looks just like the one in the Peter Morgan book - Titan Gray on Classic Gray interior and black top.

I converted a '91 guards red/blk cab last winter using a rear end totalled '89 951 donor car that was freshly rebuilt, engine and suspension, for track use. I picked up the '91 cab with a overheated and badly scored cyl. wall engine, 130,000 miles with all original paint and nice panels. I used 99.8% Porsche parts in the conversion for a total factory look. No aftermarket gauges, etc. to muck up the factory stock look. Only difference I believe is that I have the adjustable spring front struts and the factory 951 cabs did not. OBD of course is different. I showed this car at the Turbos On Main Street at the recent Ventura Porsche car show.
I have owned seven 951 coupes, three being Turbo S and one a Rothman Turbo Cup [plus two 951S parts cars]. I had a '90 S2 Cab and loved it. I wanted of course the marriage of the two. For touring, I believe my old S2 cab with adjustable Konis and stock springs had a better ride, but in the twistys the Turbo Cab is sweet - almost seems better than a Turbo S coupe [lower CG?]. Chipped computer power is of course impressive, along with a Stimson ported cyl. head. 27 mpg highway is not bad either.
Original cab S2 3.0 engine is going into a 968RS clone race car I'm building - sourced 104.5 Mahle 2V turbo pistons. I aim to restore [and retire to vintage racing] my Rothman cup car to original as it left the factory.
Randy from Berkeley recently did a conversion of a '90 cab using a '86 951 donor car.

Now that you mention it, this could be a factor given all the factory reinforcements. What's your suspension set up on the turbo cab?

Default One more 944 Turbo Cabriolet on the road in 08

Still own my first Porsche 91 S2 cabrio purchased in 96 white on black and have owned an 89 turbo for about four years now.

Just picked up two parts cars 88 turbo S one with some rust other with extreme rear end collision.

So the smashed car will be the doner, plan on a complete engine rebuild prior to install. Am not sure on suspension/tire set up as the car drives so smooth now and recently installed new strut/shocks/springs.

Was thinking of doing some interior leather upgrades any recomendations on suppliers?

IMO these cars are to good not to upgrade.

My Turbo Cab has factory stock '89 951 M030 suspension with the a change to a 18mm rear sway bar from an early serial number Silver Rose car, as I prefer a less understeering car. Adjustable Koni shocks are set to factory recommendations for a coupe, I'll be playing with them soon for a smoother touring ride.

With all these Cab turbo conversions being done now, it proves a demand for these cars and makes you wonder what Porsche USA was thinking back in 1990 when they did not import any turbo cabs. However, I know '89 951 coupes were still on the dealer's lot in 1990.

Do the cabs have shorter windshields that the coupes? I remember riding in Rock's cab at the fest, and it felt like the windshield was much lower than mine.

I saw John's Cup car a couple of years ago. That was really cool! At the time he also had a white '89 Turbo S and an '88 turbo S silver rose. He was talking about building a turbo cab so it's pretty neat to see that it happened!

The car is in like 7/10 shape. I wish I had more money. The top is the worse thing on the car. If it had a good top, it would be like 9/10 (and just replace the windsheild )
What part of the top is having issues?

There is no rear window anymore. Came unstitched. Both B pillars are both broken too.

The windows on these cars just yellow and eventually turn to crumbly plastic.
