Default It's not a 951, but why I like my 944 supercharged car

I am copying a post from pelican

I just thought I'd share over here too

These a just a couple of vids showing how quickly it builds boost

copy:

So I did some video today of the boost gauge to give a comparison to the turbo car. So far I have a few vids uploaded to youtube.

here is an old video showing the free rev boost ability, with larger upper pulley , (less boost)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GO2xIuI-aKc

here is a new video of a minimal effort launch @ 15psi (can't seem to get the turbo car to do this )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvYzR0AhyWk

here is a cruise vid of running through 3rd and 4th with minimal effort also a couple of free revs to 15 psi

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMmX4caf5Us

here is a video of me running easily through the gears with a bit of detonation in second (had to add more methanol to the mix man do I need bigger injectors )

http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l1...ttledin2nd.flv

I have a couple of longer ones I am going to try to upload to show comparison of my s/c car vs the 951 ( I also tok some vids in the 951 to show how they differ)

I willsay that at no time was I even pushing either of these cars to the limit, just showing what some moderate driving in both is like as far as boost goes.

Not a whole lot really

it is on E85 fuel
has a cheap 2 stage w/i meth setup
bigger injectors 42#
had an intercooler on it but kept blowing the charge tube off so I'm back to more meth (Looking for new IC)
ported head
WF gasket
using a 87 DME and a an Audi MAF
have modded the FPR
Vortech RRFPR
have a turbo trans in garage for when it kills the na trans.

Overall it is a cheap fun fix that runs pretty good. I've had it going for about 3yrs now I think.

I also have a 951 but this car is a little more fun around town I'd have to say

That sounds awesome. Very different than the turbo sound. Purists will be upset, but no lag is a wonderful thing

YOU BASTARD.

I didn't know superchargers could make that kind of PSI . . .

Nice job.

I agree, purist will be upset, when i first saw this thread i said, no way, can't be true. But i think that was jealousy talking.

Now, that i've had a minute to cool down, i think all forced induction should be able to get along fine.

He He

I really don't think purists would care about a little POS '83 that most likely was headed to the junk yard

i think the common ground here is that we are a small community that discovered an old car, that, with a little tuning, a lot of money and even more time, can keep up with todays quickest cars.

Personally I look at these cars as sort of a mini Supra. I think they jare ust in their infancy as far as the power limits go.

When I get done with my next round of power mods over the winter either this car or my 951 will be well over 30 psi mark my words . In either one it will have instant boost too.
