Same thing here, i had a guy step out in the road at me the other day.

I didn't want to break their hearts and say, "No." So I said, "Wellll, it IS a Porsche!" and left it at that.

Was at Pueblo for a DE a few weeks back. Was down at the stands near turn 3 and some guys were hanging out there talking about the cars running. One of them says, yeah that cayman is fast but there is a red 951 running in group 1 (black) that is flat out flying. I heard he's twin turbo'd and is typically top time of the day (sunday the region does 2 lap qualifiers on the clock for those wishing to play). I love it when that happens...so we talked about my car for a while, and later that day drank some beer while marvelling at the time sheets. Next guy back was in a cayman S on new hoosiers.....1.5 seconds trailing an 18 year old car on 3rd weekend Toyo's. My favorite quotes about my car are always like that..when some stranger is talking about how fast that monster over there is.....still the region race is coming next month and I sure as hell won't be the hotfoot there. I'll be lucky to hit top 5, there be monsters in those waters....but then my AC and stereo still works.
