If your car had one of those Guru Map sensor Link setups its not surprising the motor ended up that way. That was an ill concieved kit that was never properly developed or supported.

+1 This is the second block I've seen this week(mine was the other one) that had this type of gouging. It might not be just the Guru chips but most people that used them ran very rich. Mine had the AFM/Link MAP setup. Combine that with a leaky injector, a 3-bar FPR, and fuel washout of the oil can do damage in no time. I'm sure there are many other causes but the rings on my bad cylinder were fine, no chipped edges, or seized rings. If it wasn't the overly rich carbon buildup on mine that caused mine, it had to fuel washing. I could lift the excess carbon off with my finger nail, especially on that cylinder.

Dang - crummy start to the morning. The guy that bought and already paid for the LSD trans says that he made a mistake and he actually needs a 911 trans for the kit car he is working on. Drats!! Can't believe it

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your troubles -- and to see another Silver Rose pass away. Out of curiosity, what was the last 4 digits on its VIN?
I'd hate to be a vulture, but what's the condition of the burgandy dash?

They think it overheated because the scumbag at Promotion who did it, did not put the clamp around the thermostat rubber (wasn't even seated right) and the thermostat was sideways when they took off the radiator hose, aside from that, 3 studs were stripped and 2 were broken, they told me one exhaust manifold gasket was leaking 360 degrees around the manifold and that when you do the head you fix or change the studs and gaskets and Promotion didn't do any of that! None of the nuts were torqued right neither on the head or on the exhaust manifold. The head was warped but not cracked, it cost me (with new exhaust manifold gaskets and studs, Widefire, gaskets, etc.) $1,500 out the door, would have cost me $4,500 to do an overhaul and reseal the whole engine. It'll run fine as long as you don't mind a little blow by, which is normal for turbo cars
