You should take a look into a Walbro fuel pump. I just installed a GSL392 and it fits in the stock location without any issues. This Walbro pump is VERY comparable in flow performance to the much more expensive $340 Bosch 044 pump.
Here is a flow chart comparison for both pumps:
Walbro @ 3 BAR (44.1 psi) = 68 gal/hr & 8 AMPS
Walbro @ 5 BAR (73.5 psi) = 57 gal/hr & 10 AMPS
Bosch @ 3 BAR (44.1 psi) = 4.2 l/min or 66.5 gal/hr & 11.2 AMPS
Bosch @ 5 BAR (73.5 psi) = 3.7 l/min or 58.7 gal/hr & 13 AMPS
As you can see, once you calculate the conversion(s) both pumps flow a similar volume with the one difference being that the Walbro pump draws a little less AMPS for almost the same performance as the 044 pump.
Here are a couple of shots of the Walbro pump installed in my car. All that's required to install this pump is a 12mm inlet adapter. The factory outlet hose and check valve screw directly to the pump's outlet.

Use your imagination - if this comparison isn't enough to provide you with an idea of the Walbro's hp/tq potential, I don't know what to say.
The point of my reply is to show an alternative to the 044 pump which is recognized as "the" pump if you're going for bigger power. The Walbro pump can be picked up for around $140, so go figure out if maximum hp & tq are the most important criteria you should be interested in given this comparison info.

pauerman are you running the little cover that goes over the hole in the last pic? Mine fit but then again I just wrapped mine in a layer of foam and electrical taped it so it sits lower in the cover. Also did you get the terminal covers to fit snugly on the terminals mine fit loose.

Gents, Anyone have any experience with the Pierburg fuel pump? It's German and OEM. Sold by Beck/Arnley. Also, what are the pros & cons of using a higher pressure fuel pump with a stock fuel pressure regulator?

While the walbro has become obligatory with street tuners of late , they are very suspect in the reliability department , i would stick with the factory pump due to it's better reliability ...

I just got a Bosch HV pump from Lindsey for $155. I haven't installed it yet but we'll see how it works.
I got it because it's a bit cheaper than stock, should handle more HP AND it's still a Bosch so it should be just as reliable as stock. I certainly wouldn't expect a Walboro to be as reliable as a new Bosch part.
