I put a stock one on a bench 3 or 4 years ago when I was working on an 8v. I didn't do a complete 'full on test' but the numbers were impressive - 300cfm is quite possible.
I have played around with 16v heads that have been flowed by the experts and the numbers are quite impressive.

The bench I use is computerized and runs a series of tests at different vlave openings. I didn't run the full test and I also did not make a custom air horn...so it wasn't a 'real' test.
And yes, I would belive there is a lot of potential in the head...other wise I wouldn't be playing with them! Unfortunatly PCA club racing also feels that way and has assigned a 20% 'handicap' to the 16v vs the 8v.

What sort of intake system are you planning. ITB's ?
Will this motor be built as a 48hr limited life motor, or something more dependable?

[QUOTE=evil 944t;6933259]You can program it to test at as many specified valve openings as you want. Getting it to flow as small openings is as important as max flow at max openings. Flow as small openings will tell you more about valve seat and port design around the valve area.

[QUOTE=Chris White;6933321] So, Basically the same "tests" you normally perform on a flowbench but the computer does it for you. Yes, seeing I have flowed every Porsche head for our cars, I'm well aware of how to test a head and what to look for.

It will have ITB's. It will have a limited life span on some parts. It is high revving so, some parts will have to be inspected often.

Yep, push the button and it does the rest....
I figured you knew about head testing...just tossing some info out there for the rest of the folks! Some people get fixated on the max lift flow numbers...

I wish good head was that cheap here, amazing head work which Chris has seen first hand out of Montreal requires "carte blanche" on time and cost.... Results are definitely worth it if cost isn't a deciding factor
