Looks like the Hella TC-400 system sold at Tirerack is the same unit with a different display

DEI is the parent company of Valet. They are a very good company. They acually make Viper alarms. I guess they are branching out into different areas. Most of there products are very good, so I would think the tire pressure monitoring system should be dependable and accurate.

My Vette has pressure sensors like these. Pretty useful, especially if you have a LSD where keeping the pressure difference between the tires low is very important.

TPMS are not heavy. these are generally installed in most new cars today, not new technology by a long shot. Only way they can break is if the auto guy installing them breaks 'em. They do have batteries, but so far i've never seen a car come in that needed new batteries.

How do the sensors affix to the tyres? Does the sensor itself sit inside the tyre and also provide the valve stem?

Yes. You un-mount your tyre and remove your air valve and reinstall these in place of the original stem. Install the tyre and hope they work, lol.j/k
