Engine builder in southeast *** Now project thread with pics*** UPDATE 2/15
Any good engine builders in the southeast who wont take 12 months to build a run-of-the-mill 2.5?

You should speak to John at Vitesse he is down in Georgia and knows a lot of people. Otherwise there is Albert Broadfoot down in Florida who seems to have a good reputation. As I am in UK I would normally not answered this Q but it seems nobody has given you any names

Albert shut down Broadfoot Racing, but I can assure you he is still doing business. New business name is Autosport. Sold him some parts a couple weeks ago. With that being said, they had/have some serious customer service issues and until they are back on their feet again and prove themselves I would look elsewhere.

what do you want done, what do you have to go in/on it and what is your timeline? Do you have new pistons and rings, head studs, all the bearings, seals and gaskets? Basic rebuild is sorta vague, if, and I mean if your bores are straight, doing an Alusil finishing pass(es) with new rings is not the proper thing to do. Most likely the bores have a slight egg shape to them and require boring and finishing - this is the key point of info needed - then you can find oversize pistons but they aren't cheap, and of the 8 OEM sets of 100.5 left in the world, they're $1695 plus shipping.

I had asked John "I'm doing a head gasket replacement, and while I've got the head off I want to do a valve job.. do you know of any local machine shops that you'd recommend?" -- his response was "Sorry, no idea on who does good machine work."

Not many around here who are known for 944. I agree with the Chris consensus. Crate & ship it. Look into BAX Global for shipping. I've found them to be reasonable & efficient.
