Part of the fun in tracking old 80's machinery like ours is passing the modern expensive cars. If we go out at the front of the session you have to do a few laps before you lap them. Starting at the back you have people to pass straight away
I haven't driven on track since May 2005 - I have a lot of re-learning to do

It's actually impressed me a lot that I can be doing 70 in 5th, floor the throttle and watch the rev counter zoom round to circa 5000rpm with the back scrabbling like mad, yet the car just continues to go forwards in a straight line with very little drama.
I shan't be trying that very often though

Also, we do not want to be seen as spamming or abusing a forum, so we would have to check the rules here before we even thought about printing prices in answer to the requests in this thread.
We are talking about offering 3.2's (as well as 2.5's, 2.8's and 3.0's) in several configurations (sleeved or not sleeved in the case of 2.5's and 2.8's) , with several optional extras (piston squirters or not for example) in fully assembled, short engine or kit form including just what parts you need.
First of all though, we just want to make sure that Paul's engine does not self destruct, has a teething problem or anything else before we start getting confident!
We are also working on some other variations of capacity and 16 valve versions... we are also keen to see how far we can push the boundaries of max RPM, again with the help of some helpful friends in F1 as one of our future targets.. But thats all I can say about that for now!

I know im interested. Maybe become a site sponser and go from there. I've got some change saved for a vitesse turbo kit and ems system but, I might just wait another year and put more with it for a entire new motor.
keep us updated please. I know alot of people are very interested in this.

2.7 VS. 3.2
Very nice build.
Did you consider doing the 3.3 build? using the 3.0 crank?
You went thru alot of trouble and expense to build HP so why not do the bigger motor since you already had the crank?
Can you compare the Darton sleeve which is easier for us US guys to get vs. the nikasil sleeves you are using. What was the cost of the sleeves installed? Pistons?
Great thread ........I look forward to your answers and your progress.............

Advanced
This engine did use the 3.0 crank with a 108mm bore, which some would call a 3.3, we round it down to 3.2
We didnt use the darton sleeve because we tried them for the 3.2 They work well for every other capacity but for the 3.2 bore size we didnt like the look of block once hogged out to recieve the 108mm darton, we also found a couple of other issues which become apparent when prepping the block for a 108mm darton.... So we opted to have our own sleeve made which overcame this issue as well as some other issues... Part of a very time consuming and expensive learning curve.
At the same time as having a our own sleeve made, we went for the nickel ceramic coating due to previous excellent results from this coating, both for its thermal benefits, quick running in time and durability.

And there you were calling 275's girly but 285's will do?lol Unless someone does what you've done which is alter the bodywork, then let's hope the 285/295's work?
I hope so as doing the bodywork looks like a pretty major expense once you get the car painted again.
