Default Diagnose my oil leak! (Pics Included)

I was told by a Porsche dealer that it was the headgasket, and then took it to a 944 specialist and was told it was the cam tower gasket...

I think it's the cam, but want to double check..

What do you guys think?

(pics will be posted shortly)

Or as soon as John is on-line

Here you go Ryan!!!

My best to all! (also - Ryan is using a Mac - which I don't, except to test portions of Rennlist... Not that I have anything against Macs - just not familiar with available resizing software.. If one of you use Macs on a daily basis, can you PM Ryan with a "how to" for image resizing????? Thanks!!)

Looks like the cam tower gasket to me. When you do this you should also replace all the seals you encounter in the cam tower area since it appears the cork gasket in the rear is also failing.

Then you should fix it. It's not to hard to do yourself. Clark's Garage has a great write up on the procedure for removing the cam tower as well as replacing all the relevant seals/gaskets.

thats the rear cam seal, that stupid cork one, not the cam tower gasket (though it may be leaking too)

Thanks Again John!!!!!!!!

I need to learn how to resize the pics!

I am planning on doing the re-seal, I was just checking to see if anyone had some tips on this, or if it IS a headgasket? Doubtful, but I just want to be sure...

I also have a minor coolant drip from the water pump, which will also be replaced.

Any "while I'm in there" projects? These will both be done simultaniously.

Thanks !!!!

Would it be a good idea just to attempt at the rear cam seal to see if that does the trick? As opposed to ripping off the entire cam cover, timing belt, etc etc??

It is most likely the cork gasket at the rear, which is inexpensive and relatively easy to fix. I would recommend trying that, cleaning the oil off and seeing if that fixes the leak. Be careful not to overtorque the bolts on that gasket though. Check clarks-garage.com for the procedure and post your findings. Good luck.
