Yes the Leda's are an obvious choice but I also read other peoples recommendations on some U.K. sites which first got my attention. These guys were raving about them and I did a bit of research and was initially going for their Variant 3 system but went for the custom 2-way race option which is really good for our cars on both road and track. As Thingo said, they ride better than the stock Mo30's but I can attest to how much better they are on the track with my improved times on 2 tracks by 2.5 sec's on the first outings. Also on one of the tracks when we had a competition with the B.M.W. club (which we won 3rd year running!) everyone was slower than their usual times but I was 2.5 sec's quicker which is probably more like 3-4 sec's against the field. I'm sure that Leda's and Bilsteins and Ohlins etc would give you a good upgrade too, but either not as good for both road and track or in the case of the Ohlins MUCH more expensive!

Check with Rod/thingo but I think you would have to roll the arches if you wanted to fit 11"s?

There is room for the 11 there, but not sure of the offset.295 is the widest tyre that is suitable.

Default 295s

A friend of mine from here run's 295 with no rubbing at all on his car. Sweet looking car to, won many awards. In the future, I'm getting fully custom made wheels myself, and will be running at least 295s in the rear.

Here is what he said;" I am running Factory Carerra Lightweights (fully forged by BBS) from an '02 996. They are 8" and 10" by 18, they are the stock offset. I run 225/40 and 295/35 PZero Corsa Pirellis. No spacers no rub, and my car is so low it won't clear a beer can laying on it's side. I do run full coil overs with no torsion bars and 550# frt and 700# rear springs. I can make the car understeer or oversteer at will. I like my set up as well or better as any others that I have tried."

Yes that's a very nice looking car and I like those wheels on our cars. I wonder what year model as to his offset that he can run those straight onto his car?

From my friend:

" My car is about 2.75" lower in the front and 2.5" rear. I rolled the fenders (my car is an '87) I think the '88 and '89 cars have more clearance. I rolled the fenders for the turbo twists that I ran before the lightweights. There is no reason to roll the fenders for the lightweights. Wheel Enhancement sells the wheels. Stock '02 996 Carerra wheels bolt right on, no rub! I worked pretty hard on my suspension to get the car to do what I like. My car makes 386 rwhp, at 17lbs. The springs, tire preasure and sway bar preloads make the car fairly neutral above 50 mph, this is no autocrosser. I have set it up for fast road work. I wanted the car to hookup. The wheel spin I get even at low boost settings is tremendous even with the Pirrellis (wheel spin to about 70mph)."

That should help ya Patrick.

Wheelspin to 70 mph! That sounds pretty hairy. That's one of the reasons that I went for the KW's. Traction. Everyone who had them spoke of how they couldn't break traction which is a good thing in my book. Unless you want to be a drifter or doughnut nut. Sounds like he's got the car he wants though which is the main thing.

Several of the 968 guys had Leda setups on their cars before going to KW, not sure if is the same as what you have over there, but Leda is a UK company and we get pretty good prices for it here. Now considering that the KW kit is double the price of the Leda kit its either very good marketing or just a very good product because almost every uk 968 that wants to run track and road is running it. We have it on our 993 track car and it is very good and still fine on the road. So for a street/ track car i dont think it can be beaten. Add in the amazing build quality and you are on to a winner.
