Thumbs up UPDATE!

Okay, you guys keep twisting my arm...

Here's the NEW SCOOP:

Units will be ready to ship Dec 1st! Unit will be USB native, no need for a serial->usb adapter. Unit will still be priced at 250.00 USD.

Okay, now the really fun part, for people who don't have my software who want to put their existing chips on this unit I will sell you the unit and loan you an eprom reader with instructions on taking your existing chip, reading it to your computer via USB, and then writing it to the new break-out box. Then when I release the tuning software you can start playing with it. Then if other vendors want to incorporate web based updates like I'm doing they will have that capability. Everybody wins!

Regards,
Russell

Man, I cannot tell you how much this kind of conduct impresses me - finally a 944/951 tuning package that is not snobbishly proprietary!

Is anyone else as frustrated as I am with this new development?

I'm just trying to come up with money to complete my rebuild, and now I have to start shopping for a new turbo. This just isn't right! Cease and desist!.

I have resisted the aftermarket tuning stuff because of the price for a long, long time. I almost pulled the trigger on a Megasquirt, and as cool as that thing is - this will be much easier to implement. For $250..........sign me up!

Now my dilemma here is the cost of these things. I like to give a Rennlist discount when I introduce a new product for 30 days to give you guys a good deal off the bat. So I guess I'll have to maybe take 25.00 off the 250.00 price, and another 25.00 off the chip/tune if you order that with it. Being a total of 50 bucks off. But the people who just buy the box will still get a 25.00 savings. I wish I could cut it more, but I'm counting on making my money off the software I design and not the boxes themselves, that's why they are so inexpensive off the bat. Very little markup. I'll figure something out...

I suppose I could bite the bullet and have 100 of them made at once and get them maybe 25 bucks cheaper and carry the savings forward for the promotion. But that's a pretty good chunk of change out of my pocket up front. I'll have to look at my finances and give that some thought... We all need a good Christmas this year.

Regards,
Russell
