Turbo cup tranny on ebay

This same ebay seller had a set of actual/correct Turbo Cup DME/KLR units listed about a week ago, so its possible that this is the genuine item.
Lart, if youre blowing up Turbo S transmissions, I dont think this unit would be much/any stronger, and would just be a more expensive explosion when it happens...
Scott, I recall that you have an S2 3.875 R/P in your turbo transmission, correct? The Cup/Club Sport cars all used the regular (taller) Turbo 3.375 R/Ps. For the S2 setup, putting in the Turbo 0.829 5th is definitely shorter than the S2 0.778 5th. I put an S2 trans in my 89T, but intentionally left the taller 0.778 5th, because of where I drive the car. I could potentially hit the rev limiter on the front straight (at my home track) if using the turbo .829 5th in the S2 trans (3.875 r/p).
Supposedly, the '86 German Turbo Cup cars did have magnesium trans cases (I have never seen a separate part number for it, nor a picture of one - but it seems very likely that this is true). Either way, the story is that there were various problems with trans case failures during the '86 Euro/German Cup series, so all 87 and later Cups had the standard aluminum transmission cases. So the Canadian Cup transmissions (MY '88) will all be standard alum. cases.

The 80' 931 snailshell trans wa an Audi based trans with 915 internals similar to the earlier 911 transaxles. The transmission was ahead of the differential opposite of our cars, and you can see that a matching torque tube and torsion bar carrier are needed too. They also have bad 1st and 2nd gear synchro problems.
I would say for the $$ see what PowerhausII can get you or Guard Transmisssions for some custom gears that are stronger? What exactly are you breaking LART? The differential, gears, CV's?
