Default H&R RSS suspension for 944

As I was searching around for suspension options for 944's I came across this stuff from H&R

http://www.hrsprings.com/site/news/i..._from=&ucat=2&

I have seen no previous reference to this suspension on Rennlist (for 944s) so figured I would post the link. It looks like it might be a relatively new release. Always nice to see more options available for 944's.

That set has been in H&Rs catalogue about two years.Over here atleast one 944 NA racer uses it.And my & my friend's LEDA's have been copied from that...
As they say in that link,it's pretty stiff for street use. Local Porsche Centre's mechanic, who also handles that racer,( and his boss ) claims that the set is a direct copy of Turbo Cup car's suspension....made after several requests from Germany's club racers.

I have got the H+R suspension mounted in my S2 and in one 951 as well. You can get it in different specs as "cup" and as "Nordschleife". The "Cup" is stiffer than the "Nordschleife" which as the name suggests was tuned to perform best on those 20km one way road in germany. The "Cup" is only suitable for pure race track use (surface as a billard table). I decided for the "nordschleife" because this track is a bit more like a normal country road and can be driven in normal traffic.

I am extremely positive about the suspension. I have driven the cars with stock and with M030 suspension for comparrison as well. Main difference I noticed is a much improved rear. It puts the car into a different class compared to the other above listed options. Stability under braking is no compare to what I was used to even with the M030. Damping does not change after a few turns which is different to the M030 too. I don´t know what the LEAD would be like but you hear good things about them as well.

Default Adjustability

Hi there,

Are these double adjustable?? What is the price for a complete "Nordschleife" set?

Thanks,
Jarmo

suspension only offers height adjustability. Damping is fixed. Cost me about 1500E complete.

They have had these for quite some time, but they aren't hugely available. They care built very close to Bilstein Escort specs.

H&R's coilover kits use Bilstein shock cores. These are comparable to the Bilstein Escort and Firehawk.

Thanks Karl.

H&R emailed me the price it was $2680 USD.

They also had this to say when I asked them about external adjustability and what rate springs the shocks are valved for "

Wayne,

This kit does not require any adjustment on the valving. The valving and the spring rates are designed specifically for your vehicle. We have gone through extensive testing to develop this kit. We feel it is designed for the person who is looking for superb performance on the street and track and is willing to sacrifice some daily driving ride comfort.

Sincerely,"

It annoys me that they assume they know what my car is and what my application is and so choose not to answer the questions I asked. oz951<-- not going to be a H&R customer.

Wayne, they look and sound a bit familiar to my KW's but the advantage with mine is that they custom made them for exactly my car and it's intended use. The KW's also have a high speed bypass valve that allows you to basically hit the kerbs on the track and not get unsettled. Mine also have adjustable height, bump, and rebound and the valving and springs are set to my desired use. They are fully rebuildable and have stainless steel struts. They also made up some adjustable camber plates to go with them. I will have them installed in the next couple of weeks so I'll keep you informed. Oh I also will be installing these with the RacersEdge A-arms w Monoballs + uprated rear bearings and bushings and spherical droplinks + solid rear sway bar mount so the car should be transformed! Mucho Dollero $$$$$$$$ but hopefully worth it.

Paying over $2k for coilovers and not even getting single/double adjustable dampening is a ripoff. At that price you'd be better off with KW's, Ledas, or just about anything else!

Well .. Pricing for H&R is more like in the 1500$ area.. And they are supposed to be very good .

I like the Kw`s better though ..
