Turbo update
First off I clearly want to state that this thread is NOT to bash Tim at SFR.
With that said, as most of you have read in previous posts I purchased a SFR stage 1 turbo from Powerwerks last year. The reasons I purchased from them instead of directly from Tim was that they had the turbo in stock and were only 300 miles away compared to 3,000 miles away for SFR.
Due to the wonderful weather here in upstate New York I was only able to complete the turbo instal about 2 months ago. After finally getting the car on the road the turbo started smoking after only 2 weeks of driving. The turbo was pulled and I shipped it back to Tim at SFR last week. This is where things go from bad to worse.
I was informed by Tim today that the turbo I sent back for repair is a turbo that he has never sold! So it appears that the turbo I bought from Powerwerks that was advertised as a SFR stage 1 turbo is not! At this point I don't even know what turbo I even have.
As stated in the first line I am NOT mad at Tim and I DO NOT blame him for anything. I am very upset though and and I do know that someone is going to pay for this.
With that said at this point I do not know what the hell I am going to do as I do not have the money to have this turbo rebuilt let alone buy another one. Hopefully i will be able to work something out with Tim, if not my car is going to be sitting for quite some time.

Why did you ship the turbo back to someone you did not buy it from?
You should have shipped the turbo back to Powerwerks and let them fix it.
The fact that it's not a SFR spec turbo is a different issue.
Let us know what Powerwerks has to say about it :-)

>>>Tony, the reason I sent it back to SFR is because it is his turbo and Powerwerks is no longer in business as far as I can tell.<<<
Ok. That certainly makes sense. But now you're stuck. The only thing I can suggest is to have Tim send it off to get rebuilt... and you'll be stuck with the bill.
... or ...
Find Powerwerks and get the turbo back to them.
It sucks I know.

That I am.........Not making excuses or blaming anyone other than Powerwerks. Felt I was safe doing business with them when I was assured that they were an authorized SFR reseller. Guess I learned the hard way. At this point even if i was able to find Powerwerks I don't think I have enough faith or trust in them to send the turbo back.
Guess i will have just have to wait and see what kind of deal I can work out with Tim on a rebuild.

Got an e-mail from Tim this morning and the only turbo he sold Powerwerks was sold back in October of 2003 so even if this was the turbo he sold them, which he says it is not, it still would not be covered under warrenty. So now I am going to have spend $400 to have my brand new turbo rebuilt. Now all I have to do is figure out how the hell I am going to come up with $400.

As far as I know that is just to get it back to working order. I don't think Tim can get it to SFR specs as the cold housing is not one that he uses. At this point I am not sure what I am going to do. I really need to get my car back on the road but $400 does seem a little high to me too.

Actually I have an 85.5 N/A that I am parting. Most parts are already gone but I do have some misc. stuff left. I am also going to go ahead and sell my Zeitronix wideband that has less than 10 hours of use on it. First $300 takes it.
