Talking WOW! Porsche Carrera GT VS Mercedes SLR

http://www.dpccars.com/car-movies/06...ercedesSLR.htm

Great write up of the SLR and the very time specific breakdown of a 0-60, 1/4 etc. and what the car and motor are doing at each tick.

13.5 psi on supercharger??? Thats about 25psi with a turbo

While the thought of a sedan beating the best and most expensive sports car that Porsche can offer is quite depressing, I am not supprised. McLaren-Mercedes has been competitive at the very highest level of racing, F1. In fact the rarified ground that is F1, is a level that Porsche has never risen to.

Sure they have - they made engines for that *** Dennnis when he fiirst started.

Now I have to route for flave-o-flave Briogone and his French compadres because Mclaren disheartened Porsche.

That is correct ST!

Porsche used to make engines for Rod dennis Mclaren F1 team. In fact they won the 1984 driver and constructors championchip with Mikki Lauda. They did it again in 85 and 86 but this time with Alan Prost. In 87, the last year of their contract, Mclaren change chassis designers. The car never work the same. still Alan Prost manage to win 4 races.

On is final season the engine produce around 1500 Bhp on qualifing and 1000 race trim with a very good power curve from 6K to 13K. It also has the honor of been the first F1 engine to be EFI by?.......you gess it, Motronic.

AL

No the engine was twin turbocharged 1.5 L 80 degrees V6.

Acording to the Porsche, the engine came to Mclaren with 4 compressors for the turbo and 3 turbines. to adjust for the different track they visit. it also use a high CR of 8.8:1. another brilliant engine design by Hass Meziger.(soory if I didn't spell his name right)

AL

Regarding the CGT vs SLR, I think that Porsche has nothing to be a shame of. after all 575 FT.lbs does make a differences.

Has anyone here of a Gambella Carrera GT ?................I read it on a magazine that they were working on it . It has a twin turbo setup pushing around 1200 Bhp or more. They even made a top to turn it into a cupe. I think they wanted to take a shot at breaking the 400 Kmph mark.

AL
