R134a Vs. R12
I took my 87/951 to have the AC recharged. I was informed that there was a small leak somewhere. Figures with all the rubber hoses.
Well, it was recoimmended that I switch to R134a. The parts from Porsche were about $450.00.
Has anybody done this? If so is that cost not reasonable? Is it normal for the AC to leak. Has anybody else experinced this issue?
I am going tommrow to have the car filled with R12 & Dye to find the leak. I will probably not do the switch till 2007 while in Germany!
Car runs great!

Find out where the leak is first. That's probably going to cost a lot more than either r134 or r12.
Either one works fine - personal preference. Personally I'd stick with r12 unless you end up buying a new compressor more suited to r134 but that's up to you.
BTW this subject has been beaten to death in the archives.
