Default JME cam and titanium valve spring/retainers(installed)

All I have to say is I should have done this a long time ago. Feels like a different motor.

Which profile?

Does it idle like a street car?

Lots of smog-test-failing overlap?

Did it shift the powerband up the rpm range?

How'd you get Mr. M. to speak to you?

I didn't ask what the part number was and I can't find the invoice. I will call him and ask. I had a 20 min. talk with him over the phone. He asked me 10 questions about the car. The grind spec. was for a 3600 to 7000 rpm powerband. He said that I must use the spring package with it. This cam makes power all over. Faster spoolup, quicker revving, I have never seen the boost gauge go up so quick. It has a pretty good idle. The exhaust note has changed. It's a little lowbey at idle.

John your chips make it possible to run a cam like this and have a stock like idle and startup. I only get 12 inches of vac. now. Down from 18 at idle. I'm definitely impressed with your maf. I was very close to getting one of your cams but you had personal issues at the time and I had some money to burn. Sorry. I hope all is well now.

Jimbo, as long as you have a cam you like, that is all that matters. Everything is fine now, thanks.

The reason I asked, is because we have experienced cold start idles with some cams such as the (WebCam and the JME 474/474 not sure which one). A code change was needed to smooth the idle. I'm compiling a list of cams that work with the stock SW as well as the ones needing special code.. When you figure out the name of the cam you have, drop me a note so I can add it to my list.

Would you be willing to tell us how much the package cost?

Yeah I would like to know too or a "between range" within a $200, as we have some funds to spend on the track car, probably going to be new racers edge control arms or....

we have the new lightweight Mahle pistons to test but we've got that figured out on the spare motor so I'm interested in the $$ of the package.

FWIW, I've run JME cams in 3 cars now. All different grinds.

All started cold exactly like a stock car. Zero difference.

All idled like a stock car too.

The only noticable difference was that the vacuum at idle was down to around 10"-12" depending on specific cam.

But, and as jimbo found out, they sure do work.

Credit where credit is due.

If you make a street cam that works well with your stage 5 kit, I'll buy it.

The cam is a fresh grind from a new billet. Cost was $700. I had the springs and retainers on my other head. I don't know what the going prices are on them. I believe they can be sourced by JME as well.

The VR003 cam is suitable for the application. Designed to max intake lift on factory springs, with extra attention to spoolup.

Jimbo

>>>John your chips make it possible to run a cam like this and have a stock like idle and startup.<<<

While I'm not going to comment on Vetesse chips. I will say that it's not Vitesse chips that "make it possible to run a cam like this".

I'm not sure where you got that info, but it's 100% incorrect.

It's actually very easy to run all of the JME "mild" cams (which is what your is) on a variety of chips as long as you have some sort of in-line MAF/MAP controller to fine tune with.

Done it with Guru chips. Done it with APE chips. Done it with JME chips.

It's not anything special.
