Default "New" Autopower rollbar design. (I made it better)

Well, after my discontent with the Autopower rollbar design, I decided to see if I could have it made better. My goals were to have the harness bar at the correct height and maybe add another triangulation bar from the main hoop to one of the wheel well legs. I also wanted to be able to take the bar out of my car still.

My car is a quasi street car, so I have pretty much a full interior. That meant taking the bar out after measurements had been made and welding the stuff up. Since I can't weld worth a damn I farmed this job out to a shop.

Here are the pics of the completed project, I'm quite happy with the results. I kept the original harness bar in place, mostly to use as a mount for the fire extinguisher. Figured another bar wouldn't hurt anyways. I'll mount the camera mount on the "real" harness bar, that way it'll have a good view out the windshield.

The torsional stiffness of the car is VASTLY improved...

Looks good Doc, might have to do the same with mine! Do you know what flavor of steel the autopower is made out of?

Since I'm a tall guy I cant fit when I have a strait harness bar on the hoop. This leaves out the auto power bars for me. Do you know if they will sell just the hoop with no legs? I know the hoop is the hardest part to make since it must be bent and fitted.

Hey Doc,

That looks much better for the harness angle.

Having all those tubes cross right in the middle like that, how is your line of sight out the rearview mirror though?

azmi, I'm not sure if they'll sell just the main hoop. I know they sell the main hoop with the wheel well legs, no harness bar or cross brace...

shiners, rear visibility isn't bad, but is effected somewhat...
