I would be willing to go 650 thats what I think any of them are worth and only if its in mint condition the stealer "only" charged 1200 back in the day and saratoga charged 875.00 to the stealer so 650 is my price for a perfect one and down from there...
thanks

I was talking to Richard at DC Automotive (Rocky Mount, NC) earlier today and he told me that they just got one in their possession. You might check with him.

I've been looking for about a year - trying not to pay too much also. EBay, classifieds, etc. I wound up getting one about a month ago for $700. That seems to be the fair, going price. I did a Google search and found a couple on a 968 board (wasn't Rennlist) for $800, which is what the guy I bought mine from wanted. $650 would be a very good deal on one with the seal in good shape (unless you're Lart - gotsta make friends with that dude because he finds all the deals ...). The non-Saratoga's go for considerably less (but they usually have a metal trim around the edge). I've seen the Saratogas go for ~$1000 on EBay, but also as cheap as <$500. You might try the Google search for more possibilities. Good Luck!!!

Not to be a nit-picker, but why do you say the "non-saratoga's" have the frame around it? I own a framed glass top that came in a box that says "Saratoga" on it, and the box is stamped with a serial number that matches the serial number of the top. It does not say "Saratoga" in fancy script on the top like the bronze ones do, but I believe it most certainly IS a Saratoga top. From my experience I'm guessing that Saratoga made two versions of the top. The framed, earlier grey ones and the non-framed later serial numbered bronze ones.

I have not noticed the price variation you mention but I will keep an eye on it.

My bad, Dan. I'm just going by what I've seen on EBay for the past year or so, not by any articles or pamphlets or anything. There was a Saratoga w/no metal edge on EBay about a month ago that was bid up to ~$650 but didn't meet reserve, and a non-Saratoga(?) with the metal edge went for a little over $300 within 24 hrs of each other. I'd be willing to bet that metal frame or no metal frame, if it's a Saratoga it will command more than a non-Saratoga. Then again, maybe they're ALL Saratoga's, but early one's have a metal frame and no 'Saratoga' printed anywhere (as stated on Dan's link above). Hmmmmmm. I've also read that the non-metal edged tops are noisy, so I'm wondering if the metal edged ones are any better????? How's your framed one on the wind noise, Dan?

It is far from perfect. I once glanced up at 140mph (!!!) at a closed lid and I could see a gap and light shining thru as the side center lifted away from the car. Yes, there must be some serious upforce at work on the lid. Yes, wind noise at speeds, even when suposedly closed. I usually leave it half open for a good combination of breeze and quiet. There is no way it is as stout as the factory plug, however I drive with my saratoga in everywhere except at the track. The brightness and openess it adds more than makes up for the wind noise. My seal may very well be squished and not sealing right, but there are no replacements out there.

Yes, it is noisy.
