Default CLICKING NOISE AT ENGINE START!!!

I turn the car in the morning when i go to work and i hear a clicking or maybe i would say a tapping noise maybe caused by rubber...

Any ideas what it could be???

I also have an occasional problem that the car stalls when turning the key...

What can i do???

Thanks..

If that clicking lasts only a short time and only at start up, it may be the antilock brakes going through a test cycle.

belts might be loose and hitting the plastic cover.

if it's right away at startup, most likely its the lifters. mine do that. when they get older, they dont hold oil as well and the oil will drip outta then when not running.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe even due to the colder weather....things always take a bit longer to move through the system at start-up.

i don't even know if i have ABS Brakes....

it only happens when i first start the car in the morning....

I thought it was the belts....if it is the belts.... should i be worried???

so it may be the filter...(what filter do you people recommend)

demon, i'm 90% sure it's the lifters. if it's first thing in the morning, and never happens again all day, then it's that, since the oil drops back down when the car's not in use. ever seen that "oil starvation" castrol commercial? i assume it's just gonna happen. i dont think the lifters get damaged, do they?

I used to have slightly noisy lifters and then I put some marvel mystery oil in the red container....no more noise. Now I also had this problem on a POS car I did not really like, and I found having the right amount of oil in there helped
