Question Wolf 3D EMS

Alright guys...who thinks this EMS is worth anything? Anyone have any experience? I'm thinking about it due to the fact it's supposedly plug and play. Any comments welcome - Especially from John and ST. I know most of it depends on the person tuning the vehicle - but if the hardware/software blows I'd like to know up front.

I've been looking at this for sometime and curious to see if anyone has this setup. But for $3500 it's hard to justify the cost.

It's only $2495, but I'd still be hesitant to go with it without more feedback. So far the only posts I remember seeing on it was from a guy having problems getting it to work properly, but then that was having it tuned from a vendor other than Lindsey (supposedly the source that Lindsey uses though). Of course, that may not have really had anything to do with the Wolf, but who knows?

Theo (tms951) is using it with his project. His thread is about 5 posts down from this one.

Actually, it is $3500 for the turbo setup because it includes J&S safeguard knock control box.

You might be best off asking Lindsey what this includes exactly. I think the true value of the system will come on the support side from Lindsey. If they can supply you with an excellent base map and a perfect harness, it might be good.

If you want to know if it is cost effective, that is debatable. If you want to know if Wolf3D is a good EMS, you might search around the RX7 forums as I think it is popular with them, but I could have the wrong car on that.

I am using this unit on my project. The hard ware looks very nice and it is plug and play. It comes loaded with a base map for a stock 951S. I have little to say about its operation because the car has not been started yet. After I have it dyno tuned Nov. 8th I will have much more info on it. I hope to start the car by the end of this month.

Send a PM to "eastendr". I'll see if I can contact him and have him post here too. I believe he is one of the most experienced with this EMS for our cars. I know he bought the Wolf EMS from Lindsey and has it on his car now too. Rick knows his stuff and will be able to tell you how the install went, what he thinks, the support, etc.

The Wolf is an excellent system for the 944/951, I checked it out and talked to the company who developed the application for our cars about 1.5 years ago (considerably before Lindsey became a retailer for them). Very quick and very powerful, as well as being easier to tune than systems like Link and Tec. The hardware and software is some of the better I've seen.

I should be picking up my car this week with the Wolf3D install finally being complete. It's been a long time coming since I ran into some other issues not related to the Wolf3D. I will give my impressions from a street driving perspective and from the track next weekend.

Does it support datalogging? I used to have a Wolf 3D Version 2 on my RX7 and it's downside was that datalogging was non existant. So has this been fixed on the new version?

Yes, it's got a nice datalogging capability and good software to analyze it with.

I haven't had a chance to mess with the Wolf3D but I am sure it now has datalogging capabilities.

it does have datalogging. and i just got this for my car.

if cost is no object, you can not beat it for a plug-and-play ready-to-go system with knock protection.

here's a pretty good write-up, though not 951-specific;

I'm getting, VEMS 3.3
http://shop.vems.hu/catalog/product_...86e0b2c28fb079

not overpriced like the others, a friend will also get it, so there might be some harness work put down to make it easier for others as well. 944 goes under "auditrigger" code

standalone mgmt is a must for me as I don't like going in to make a custom chip everytime I want a minor adjustment, there is also a cool project going on to have a bluetooth connection to you windows mobile cellphone that logs datathere and 3d graphs etc.

I will do a writeup once done.
