I am just trying to convey information, I mean 944S, it is stronger than the S2, if I am incorrect, apologies, my mechanic has a lot of experience and would not encourage me to buy something not strong enough.

And here's me trying to figure out how to get a much taller first gear as it's completely useless. Second isn't much better as I spin em' into mid third. Since we're on the subject, anyone have an answer? I want to get to 60mph in first gear. If the new vettes do it, I want to as well.

Seriously though, doesn't Powerhaus make custom gears?

Well here's the ratios on the C6 transaxles That's why they get to 60 in first.
Gear ratios auto 6spd Z51 pkg
1st gear 4.02 2.66 2.97
2nd gear 2.36 1.78 2.07
3rd gear 1.53 1.30 1.43
4th gear 1.15 1.00 1.00
5th gear 0.85 0.74 0.71
6th gear 0.67 0.50 0.57
Reverse 3.06 2.90 3.28
Final drive 2.56 3.42 3.42
(sorry for the crooked formatting there)
Guess you could get a hold of Powerhaus II or swap in a vette transaxle. The Vette one would handle the power you're putting out better and you'd get a relatively inexpensive 6 speed out of the deal. Maybe not a bad idea at all provided it can fit without major modification of sheetmetal. From a couple pictures I've looked at though, it looks like the axles come out toward the rear of the housing instead of toward the front like they do on our cars. If not there's always something like Hewland if you don't mind dropping $20k on a hardcore racing transmission.
Ok scratch that, I had to go and look, the Hewland NLT transaxle could probably be fit into a 944T pretty easily. It's a nice 6 speed sequential transmission with a semi dry sump oiling system and it does have reverse even which isn't always available on a racing transmission. It can be yours for a mere $24,250.00 at the current exchange rates or if you want it with a magnesium housing it'll be $26,206.00. At $24k, I think I'd drop the extra two thousand for the magnesium housing, why the hell not. The downside of course is that it's most likely straight cut gears and doesn't have syncros so it's going to be a tough, but noisy SOB. Since it's sequential though, you could actually have a paddle shifter 944T and that alone would kick much ***. Of course there's always the installation labor to figure in and the other parts you'd need to adapt it in. Probably figure another $10k or more for that. I believe with the ratios available though, you could have 60 in first like a vette and this transaxle is a pretty good match dimensionally for a 944T.
So since you don't want to pay Powerhaus II $25k I'm guessing you don't want to pay $35k for a Hewland box either.
Maybe a G50 transaxle from a Carerra could be adopted for less, you'd get the 6 speed that way and just from the economy of scale, gears changes for a G50 from Powerhouse II are probably considerably less money. Just a thought anyway.
In the unlikely event I win the $300 million powerball jackpot Saturday night though, I think I'll buy a Hewland box just for ****s and giggles and to have the only sequential shift 944 Turbo I know of. (Yeah someone's probably done it already somewhere on a true race car).

Met a lad at the 'ring named Charlie, who had a very quick 951, and he said the simgle best mod was to swap out the turbo gearbox for an NA one. He didn't specify which one though. I know that at the 'ring I'm quite often looking for a gear somewhat shorter than third.

Your mechanic either mispoke, or is completely misinformed.

First and second gear have one gear of the set pair machined right into the input shaft. So the only way you can make a taller first or second gear, would be to have a complete custom input shaft made or a custom taller Ring and Pinion made. Either would be incredibly expensive and why Powerhaus II is quoting huge money for it.
Put some oversized rear wheels and tires on it.....
