Lindsey Racing 3.0L 8V - Dyno Results
 

Hello Everyone:

Well, my long-term 3.0L 8V project car with Lindsey Racing is finally done, thank God! It has been a very long haul for me since 2003. When I initially gave them the car, I told them I wanted a super-fast street car, which "may" also see some track time too. It's not a dedicated track car nor built for drag racing too.

Anyway, I thought I would take the time to share the results with everyone on here. About a week ago, I flew over to their shop in Oklahoma City, OK. I wanted to finally meet the crew, but moreso, to look at what they built me and of course drive it too. Overall I am very pleased, with the outstanding quality of their work, their performance parts, and how fast my car is, wow! I drove the car for about 4 hours the same day I landed right off of the plane. And as you can imagine, I had a silly grin on my face like you would not believe!! For me, this was without a doubt the fastest street-based production car I ever drove. Prior to this, the fastest I driven was a Ferrari F40. But my 944T blew that away, bare none! I could just tell by the "seat of my pants" feel that this car was very responsive and incredibly fast.

I retuned back to New Jersey and was now ready to have them dyno the car. As of yesterday, the car was tested on a dynojet machine. As you will see below from the dyno chart, we achieved some pretty impressive numbers, but just as important, some very nice curves too. The results? The car made 461.4 RWHP & 406 ft. TQ at exactly 18PSI, and on pump gas too. I would have loved to have ran it at higher boost levels, but, there is a problem. We have pegged the 30# MAF meter and cannot take it any higher until somebody replaces Pro-M and can supply a larger one. So the max I can run the car, right now, is 18PSI without going lean. And by the way, I am using a muffler, the DME/KLR w/Lindsey chips and 55# injectors too. So when a new hotwire is made for this MAF I will get it, and then jump back up to 72 lbs injectors. When that happens, I am sure I will run more boost, and "may", go up the next size a/r size to see how much more RWHP we can achieve; but without killing the low end. But for now, I couldn't be happier with the car. And for that, my hat is off to the entire Lindsey Racing Team and the job they did with my 3.0L 8V. Bravo guys! Cool man, if you don't mind me asking how much did that cost you? I want to some day move into higher horse power and i am still deciding what path to take. Also can you list ALL of the parts you put on that motor?

TurboX: Go and look at my list of mods, maybe that will tell you how much? One thing is for sure, it didn't cost me $200K! :)

Wormhole: As I just mentioned to Special Tool, I just want to drive it on the streets. I have a total of 4 hrs on the car, ever! I bought it, and shipped it right to LR. But I would love to get some Hoosiers and run at the Glen, which I have done when I ran in IMSA.

What kind of fuel pressure are you running? That power seems awful high for 55lb injectors. Comments?

Rob: A big congrates to you, you finally have you're car done and you are happy (very) with the results. A big congrates also to the whole team at Lindsey Racing for "building it right" and "to you're needs " (aka, a street car).

BTW, those numbers running on 55lbs injectors are just freaking crazy :)

BTW, very nice chart. Finally a 3 liter that has a "good" tq curve! Flat without the giant top rpm dive you usally see on 3 liter's. Clearly shows that it really pays off to address every item.

Nice Job! I don't want to do my own major work either. Good call on Lindsey. They have apparently done a great job. Some of these guys are DIY Gods, and a few make more power than 461, but I have too think that it feels great to be handed a MONSTER 951! That's Awesome! Hell, I think Special Tool is about to break 500rwhp, with race gas, but I think he did all of the work and research, on his 2.5 ltr, Vitesse kit himself,(He's also massochistic enough to run Escort Cups, minimal interior, and let Lart show his personal family pics.), but he's sort of a freak!
Glad to see the output! How long until the end of the engine break in period? Love to see the results, as compared to Special Tool.

I can't imagine being in a car that jumps from 200-400lbft in 1k rpms! Damn! Very nicely done.
