Default Does anyone know what this is/does?

Can't find my dang manual on CD, so I'm hoping someone here knows off the top of there head...files attached. The dual white cylinders with 4 wires coming off, and a harness running back through the firewall.

Thanks,

Those are the resistors for the blowers. Those do all the fun speed control.

Those are the radiator fan resistors, the blower speed resistors are slim and are on the driver's side (LHD cars).

Early cars have them inside the cabin, under the glove box, later cars have them near the blower assembly (as shown).

Anybody know where the harness terminates inside the cabin? All 4 wire leads are SERIOUSLY cracked, corroded, and generally pummeled. I've done my best with electrical tape, but now that I know it's running the rad fans, I'd like to clean it up a bit better - is this a possible unplug, replace, and plug back in, or more than likely going to be a full cut. splice, solder job?

I'm 99% sure you will have to splice into the harness. What I would do in this case is to pull back the boot that comes out of the firewall and splice in the same gauge wire at a point where the boot covers it. (IIRC they are 14 gauge wires) This should allow you enough room to cut into good wire and still have enough to work with. Solder and heat shrink your work and you'll be fine.

Holy moly! I had to actually take about 7" worth of wiring out to get a clean enough lead to splice new wire in and solder. Anyone playing around under there, changing cabin air filters or just removing the water trough, watch out, they apparently get very brittle.

Note: When the fan resistors fail, they cause a on/off/on/off of the fan operation. Doesn't matter if the a/c is on or off, that is assuming that the radiator thermoswitch is not faulty IIRC.
