Default Turbo Won't boost - here "WOOOSH"

OKay - I'm getting on the interstate this morning...all is well, gonna go hit some ***** for the first time this season (golf *****). Car boosts well getting on the interstate. About a mile down the interstate I go to accelerate to get around a mini-van, hit the gas and NO BOOST...all I hear is turbo spool up, and a lot of "WOOOSHHHH" of air. I think it's a hose. I pull over and find nothing. I get back in, same thing (what did I expect, I didn't do anything!). I bring it home, take everything apart except the hose that leads directly into the turbo. I find NO problems with any hose being off, or broken, accept for the Intercooler hose.

There is a small, inch and a half tear along it. It doesn't seem like enough of a tear to me to make this - but I thought I'd see what the forum says. While I await responses, I'm going to try taping the damn thing up and see what it does.

Thanks,

Mark

Picture doesnt load for me, but if it is the rubber hose going down to the turbo from the intercooler pipe, then yes, that small of a tear can kill your boost.

That's weird that the picture doesn't load - but yes, it is the intercooler joint from the intercooler to the turbo. I wrapped the thing up in electrical tape and took it out - it "mostly" worked, but I could hear a whistling wine - I'm guessing from the air rushing around the tape. I'm going to order a new joint, along with some sunroof gears (which just broke too) and get this fixed up.

Thanks for the response.

Yea, that happened to me one time went I cleaned my intercooler. I could get about 3-4 psi before I would here it, mine sounded like you turn the fan inside the car on high.

I'll have to check the hoses on my dad's car. I thought it was acting similar to how you described, but my dad didn't notice. I figured the BOV had crapped out. Never occured to me that a hose would break.

Wow that was a big pic!

I've ordered a new part from Pelican - along with a few misc stuff I need to replace - should be here next week sometime (FYI - USPS was cheaper, and listed as faster, than UPS or fedex).

Thanks for the replies - the part is only 15 bucks!

For now just wrap it with duct tape. Should last a week.
