Favorite kicks for driving?

Well I'll begin this story about a trip my wife and I went on for buying new shoes about 4mths back. I found a pair that I loved, but she thought they were "ugly as sin" so I put them back and found a pair of Columbia's that work out a little better for me on the job.

Now today she asked me to pick up some socks, so I of course had to go back and check out the shoes I originally wanted to buy; I couldn't find them! :crying:
So I walked over to the clearance section and lo and behold they dropped the price to $29.99! Soooo I got socks and the new shoes. ;)

These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever had for driving! My 5min jaunt home turned into an 1hr's drive through all the fun back roads I could find. They are quick to put on/take off, extremely light weight, comfortable, don't slip on the pedals, and I get great feedback. Maybe they are ugly, but they were cheap and I luv 'em! Pic below...

Warning: Shoes slipping off the pedals while braking into the hairpin behind go a 2004 turbo cab makes you heart rate go up slightly.

Wrestling shoes are great for driving but you look like a pratt walking around in them :)

Onitsuka Tiger by Asics are my current favorite. Good pedal feel and excellent grip wet or dry. They are really comfortable for just bumming around also...but not something i would wear if your standing all day long.

People ask me all the time "Why are you wearing wrestling shoes".

anybody ever actually drive around in a pair of "driver mocs"? I know L.L Bean makes a pair, as do a few othe high end shoe mans., but does anyone have a pair, and what are they like? (This is my attempt to avoid being the Guinea Pig.)

Shoes definetley make a good difference in pedal feel. I have my New Balance that seem to work great. You just want a nice light weight, skinny, and something thats not too wide. For me thats what works. Nice find for $29.99!

Techno, those appear to be indoor soccer shoes. Similar to the Samba, also excellent for driving.

The narrow requirement always seems to be really important! When trying to drive in a pair of hiking boots it can feel like you have clown feet. They also seem to slip off the pedals very easily.

My dad got racing shoes and gloves from G-force Racing Gear for his bday and his shoes much weight .5 pound. So light and get crazy traction. :)

i actually wear b-ball shoes because they are so light and are supposed to get traction. They have a nice feal to them to as compared to my etnies that you just put your foot on the pedal and it sinks lol.

any body drive barefoot? illegal i know but i used to drive my auto accord in socks. guess it just turned into a habit but i found it to be relaxing. i think the clutch pedal starts to hurt tho for a manual.

I often drive barefoot in the summer because I wear flip-flops and they get stuck under the clutch pedal if I leave them on. I find it relaxing as well.

Barefoot in the summer here too.

I have done that on long trips that I just sit on the highway, not sure if I would ever go on high speed runs or do any kind of hard driving that I had to hit the brake/clutch HARD if something happened, like in a corner. I know Samba's are great, I have a pair, always loved driving to go play indoor soccer, but usually on the drive home, my legs would be sore so I wouldn't be going that fast.
