Thumbs up For Anyone Who Ships Large Parts, read to save money.

Well after looking around at some posts this morning and saw the post about the roll bar someone was selling it seems that alot of people have to spend an arm and a leg shipping these large items. And after talking to several people I was amazed at how many people don't know about Forward Air. I have been selling a ton of car parts lately mainly on bimmerforums but I ship anything of size through Forward Air. They are great and I think they have the best price. You can check out their site at www.forwardair.com and see their location list. You have to take the item to them and whoever is getting the package has to go pick it up but the price saving is well worth it IMO. They have a minimum charge of $50 but they will put whatever it is you shipping on a palet and saran wrap it down where they then move it only with fork lifts on and off the trucks. I sent a 420lbs BMW engine across county for $110. I also sent a complete 5-speed conversion across the country for $57. I send all my body parts, wheels, drivetrain, seats and anything through them and I have never had anything get damaged and it gets there in great time and saves a ton of money. I just thought I would spread the word for anyone who wanted to look into an alternative method.

Thanks for the info. I've been using BAX Global for shipping engines and trannies, sounds like you're getting a better deal.

I've seen forwardair reference a LOT for motorcycle shipping as well - they do certainly seem to be the best out there as far as price, and if people are moving a lot of bikes with them, I have to assume they're not getting the crap beat out of them either. Good info, cross country engine shipping for $110 is almost unheard of!
