Tom, it is a very different OPRV all together. The plunger is different, much larger. the o ring is different, the thing looks real different, and its shorter. It is a single peice (unless its the updated 1 peice for an early car)

There were two one-piece OPRVs. One to retrofit 86 cars, and the other for 87 and later. Here they are. The one on the right is for the 87. Do you have the right one? I think you need to start by confirming:
(a) do you have the correct OPRV installed,
(b) are you sure the OPRV works properly (tested on another car?),
(c) is it properly aligned.
If so, is your oil clean -- any chance its so dirty its making the valve stick?

oil is brand new mobil... maybe 20 miles on it. Oil has been changed so many times in the past few months, I'd be surprised if this motor isn't lickable inside... (aside from the mobil one insode, lol)

Eyal, as Tom says, you now have the wrong OPRV - you need the "B" one for the '87 block. No idea what the "A" will do, but it is wrong. There is a special Porsche alignment tool for the OPRV specifically for the '87 and later cars (it is not the same tool as used for the '86's). I have both the Porsche alignment tool and a known-decent OPRV you can borrow if you need to. Send me PM.

the early and late valves are different diameters. I swapped my motor out from the original '89, to a rebuilt '86, and I couldn't fit the '89 OPRV in the housing. The bushing was a different diameter. Sorry, don't remember much more than that, although i did do some measuring a the time..... The early cars are critical to have the housing lined up correctly as they use the 3-part valve (which I still have, and works just fine), the later ones still require alignment, although I suspect it's just to get the thing in.
