There must be smaller options on the hotside to consider, either the wheel or the housing or both ? of couse there is the stock #6 but maybe this is just a little too small, torque drops off quickly, a better option in the middle somewhere?

Something to consider...
Garrett is now offering a new dual ball-bearing option. They have retained the size and shape of their standard bearing cartridge and have incorporated the dual (steel) ball-bearing design of the GT series into it.
So, the 951 crowd now has a "bolt-on" Garrett DUAL ball-bearing option.
From what I'm told, this ball bearing option will only be available in a select few compressor/turbine wheel configurations. It all has to do with the size of the turbine shaft/wheel compatible with the center cartridge.
I'm picking up a dual BB turbo, #8 housing for a guy in Germany. He's got all the common supporting mods to make this turbo work - should be interesting.

Vitesse I don't think tells anything about his turbo's such as what he uses. Think about it, if he put everything out there, where would that leave him??... I know when I upgrade my turbo that I will go to vitesse for MANY reasons (have his MAF, Piggyback, chips, etc.) but most of all is the customer service of getting your/mine car back on the street asap and running top notch with just that little bit of running safe side just incase.

The Vitesse stage 2, athough drowned in accolades, seems to have a bigger horsepower emphisis, eg full boost is at or above 3000rpm. peak torque is above 4K rpm & I don't need 400rwhp at 20psi.
What can a garret hybrid offer in competition / improvement on the 27/#6 lineage. It surprises me that with so many rennlisters running street & DE cars that they go for the bigger solution.

Hally - yeah, yeah, yeah - blahblahblabababablaaaaaah. Peak torque this, RPM that - your car will be TWICE as fast with the Vitesse stage 2. You want to go fast, or be eloquent??????

Do you know the information on the S2 turbo first hand, or is it something you gathered and it's hearsay? The S2 is VERY fast spooling and makes big numbers... Just in case you have not be following the so many threads, peak numbers is not something I'm interested in, the main goal is the area under the curve.. Where did you get the peak torque over 4000rpm? PLease direct me to this info..
You get a K27/6 car and I drive a car with the VR Stage 2.. both cars are equally modified except the turbo, and both engines, gearings etc are similar.. The Stage 2 car at any boost of 15psi or higher will pull away from the K27/6 car as if the K27/6 car has the emergency brakes on..
It amazes me when people just make a blanket statement without gathering correct data...

well i dont have a 951 anymore, but i had plans for before selling it. if you are looking for a great turbo for less money, just send your k26/6 to majestic turbo, and have them rebuild it to k 27/6 spec /quick spool, thats all you need if you are looking up to 340 rwhp, plus you will have the factory fit, so no need to replace anything else. that should cost you arounf 700$
i think you will happy with it

You are comparing 2 charts that were made at the same boost pressure.
