I think Helstrm and I agree on this one; if you are just driving around and the coating is just for appearance it will probably be fine. If you are doing DE it might be fine still. The temp the coating starts to fail is after continuous use so in a prolonged track session it probably wouldnt be fine.

Well sorry Matt but Helstrm is going to save me and repowder the blue pieces to an actual dark blue color. It is easier to repowder them then to get the stock ones and resandblast them.

Well on my stroke of luck. I shipped the parts out to Helstrm who is going to PC them for me. Thanks! So I shipped them out and it seems that USPS drpped them or something because now my cam tower is busted. How wonderful is this?

Well take a look at the pics. I don't think this is a show stopper. If the tig welder I won on ebay would get here I could fix it good as new. But it does not look like this break is going to casue any issues.

I usually don't get involved in these type of threads BUT i do work on tons of p-cars mainly race type stuff and as soon as someone finds out the part is a Porsche part the price usually goes up. Hell even when ordering generic pieces like fuel line and oil hoses "Oh sir you say it is a Porsche? Time to stick you in the shorts, cousin momma gets a new pair of shoes tonight!!" I have lately taken to it is for a 87 Dodge pickup! Works wonders on price and attitude.

That is why I offered to help him out. I may have taken a gun with me to get my parts if I got a quote of $90 and show up needing over $300... Just sux that now it was cracked in shipping.

Is the cam cover from an 88 different than an 86?

Hey you know what, I thought it was cracked where you bolt it down. That isn't bad, and I don't care about that. Could you just PC over that? If I can still bolt it up ok, I don't care. Thanks for the pics!!

Yeah I agree. It's not that bad of a color. But when put next to my dark blue, it looks really bad.

I should have had mine powder coated when I had mine off over the summer. But then again, I was under the mistaken impression that I would have it back together within a week while working 50 hour weeks and driving back to gainesville on the weekends to see my girlfriend. Ha! What is the average turn around time for powder coating. Like how long would it take to powder coat my cam tower and my phonies?

cam towers are all the same for the 2.5 L engines. the 2.7L has a different cam tower though. the oil pickup hole is a different size, slightly larger

All of my stuff was quoted to be done in a week. It shouldn't take too long. But then that week turned into 3, so you never know.
