The 88TS will be installed when cas951 gets back from HAWAII (life is rough).
Yep we all have to take a vacation time to time. Check out what I get to drive while I'm there. My brothers Boxter. What a blast to drive.

UPDATE

Griffin decided to only fab one prototype radiator. The logic being that if there are issues, they will only have to replace one radiator. Griffin has refunded cas951's payment. Griffin has also decided to give me the group buy price of $365 + shipping on the prototype, instead of the full price of $675. The prototype should ship to me in the next week or so.

SIDE NOTE

Murphys law applies to radiators..........

Since the completition of the group buy (38 members), I have had 6 PM's from members who's radiators have just sprung leaks, asking if they can get in on the buy. Lucky for them, I have allowed their addition. Once the prototype is installed in my car, NO MORE MEMBERS WILL BE ADDED.

For those that did not need a radiator just yet (there are many), but knew a good buy when they saw it.........YOU HAVE BEATEN MURPHY!

Bill, bought a 89 951 in March, still waiting for it to arrive from E Coast - probably the week of 4/25. Have to get in (think its still before the FINAL cutoff, right?). Long time user of Fluidyne on my Mustangs, Griffin is also excellent!! Sending you a PM with name and address in Seattle area.

Schmedes1,

Congrats on your buy! Good choice, 89's have all the good parts on them. I will add you to the list. The group buy should go down within the next two weeks.

Bill,
When is the cutoff for getting in the group buy? I know I want one of these, and I should get one, I am just hesitating, I think a date would help me make up my mind.

Thank you very much for setting all this up for us. Great work!

I like fluidyne radiators better. Griffen radiator cores are set into epoxy.

UPDATE

Just spoke to Griffin, the prototype has not shipped yet. Griffins manufacturing line is running about a week behind. Griffin is now telling me that the 944 turbo prototype radiator should ship next week.

Maciek - The cutoff date for getting in on the group buy will be the day that I install the prototype radiator in my car and confirm that it is a direct replacement fit. So if the prototype ships next Monday 4/18, arrives 4/22, installed 4/24, group buy would start Monday 4/25 and the list would close.

tammons - I contacted Fluidyne first. They do not make a radiator for the 944 Turbo. They were not interested in making one either. I tried. Griffin makes one-off customs to full production run OE radiators. They were the only true manufacturer that was willing to make a run. The epoxy process you refer to, I feel is a plus. It adds reinforcing to the tube connections, and provides additional leak prevention. The process is also approved by Ford.

There was someone on E-Bay that pieced together off the shelf radiator parts that was a little cheaper. The problem was they used brass fittings on aluminum, which is a problem. They also did not include the 2 year warranty that Griffin does. Nor did it match the quality of Griffin.

Just a side note

Anyone that is going to replace the rubber isolating (upper and lower) bushings on the radiator........ORDER THEM NOW. They are available, but they come out of Germany. So they take 2 weeks to get from Porsche parts. I am refreshing mine.
