Default OT: how long befor the FIA completly screws up F1?

Its a %&#^$&#@#$% shame when the world champ quits early becouse it is strategically best to effect the next race due to ridiculous new rules. I guess they feel its better to dumb down the rules to make it fair than to encourage others to step up and get with the program. Its no wonder that other outfit (read about it on the winter break but cannot remember there name) in the UK is trying to start there own deal. I feel this will only devide the sport.
Well at least they did not pull that wounderfull 19000 rpm turning v-10 and its joyious sound for a lower turning and less loud v-8 !!!

Ok now what say ye?

He didn't quit , he crashed with Heidfeld and after that incident he would have never made it back into the points.

i like the new rule of no tire changes, someone fast and ragged early might run out of tires toward the end. Takes some emphasis off the engine and moves it to the driver and setup. With turbos banned the engines aspect is a bit boring anyhow.
I don't mind either the 1 lap or the 2 lap average qualifying rules. Its fun to see the faster guys move through the pack every now and then.

I know that but his car was not hurt and MS would never hang it up as a rule. Unless of course it was to get a fresh motor that the teams should be able to do ANYWAY. I just cant get on board with one stupid rule after another year after year.

i wonder if schumacher deliberately crashed once he was out of the points as i believe that you need a credible DNF (not just pull in an call it a day) to qualify for a new engine for the next race, plus he denied some points to a competing team.

Even the ability to remotely get in a crash to get the new motor says that the motor rule is wacked. That if you need a new motor moves you back to 10th pos is wacked too.....

His car was DEFINITLY damaged, if you watched the replay you'd notice he lost a few aero components in the front and mid of the car. I wouldnt be surprised if his suspension was slightly tweaked by that either. He wasnt going to move up into points in 7 laps either, made perfect sence to retire.

The new rules are mainly in place because the other top teams cannot catch up with Ferrari plus Schumacher's talent is several notches above lil'Kim's or M o a n toya's.

I will have to go jump on the PVR for that replay.
Allonzo's barge board was damaged and he made 3rd.
MS would have kept on going if not for that stupid motor rule, at least that what I believe. He went pretty quick back to the pitts

He was in the points at the time of the crash.

What I didn't understand was why didn't Schumacher go for a one stop strategy, he probably would have ended up on the podium. Even with the 2 stop strategy, if he hadn't crashed with Heidfeld, he should have ended up in the points. He definitely quit the race for the next race strategy.

fair enough.
It was good to see red bull do well, that surprised me. Wasn't happy when Couthard went inside Webber, but it was good driving.

I still think they should have just done this...

(Although I agree the tire change rule is nifty)

Hey,

I just remembered the talk about the british youths replacing somebody's pit crew. Did that happen?
