Angry How much did Guru / Danno cost you?

In one of the other threads came the idea to find out how many people have lost how much money on Guru / Danno.

Some people have made a lot of noise about this, and this can create an impression that a lot is going on, where in fact it is a rather small thing that started this. A recent thread comes to mind....

On the other hand, I assume there are a number of people that have had less suc6full experiences, and that are we could say "In the closet" I know I have never posted about my experiences, and i know some more people like me.

Let us start a disciplined thread on this. Lets just do simple posts on what was not delivered, or on what did not work, and how much it has cost us,

So, Daniel951, pls no posts on how wonderful Danno has been to you, we all know that by now.

And NZ951, no reference to some other vendor you seem to have had problems with.

Just plain and simple facts.

And then I will know, am I a member of a small minority that got screwed out of his money,? I have already forgotten about it and move on.

Or is there a much bigger pattern?

I will start.

About minus $300 or so here. I got a k26/6 turbocharger for $50 (market value varies between $100-$500 depending on condition, I'm assuming "middle-of-the-road", a free cat pipe to replace the one I had (clogged / failed), and about 4 hours worth of diagnosis and wrenching. I think I paid $15 or so for dinner and a beer as a thank-you. And I offered.

I ordered 65 lbs injectors and a 18psi chipset from Guru on 18/05/2004.

I received a chipset in september. It did not work.
I got confirmations that my injectors have been sent. I have yet to receive them

My loss:
$ 295,-- for the chipset
$ 360,-- for the injectors

Thank god for the strong Euro, limits the loss!

I don't really like this idea. It's one thing to let other members know that there are problems with a vendor regarding failure to ship or refund but it is not necessary ask for dollar amounts.

This moves the issue from informative to bitchy.....

i don't think most people will want to post amounts on here. besides it's not a clear cut issue anyhow, sure you can post the price of what you paid, but how do you quantify not having your car running for 10 months because of lies/non working products? do you also add in what you had to pay another vendor to get things running again? or the parts that you would have never bought in the first place if danno hadn't assured you that he was capable of making chips that would work with them? too many variables to add up.

The idea is simple: $300 really is perhaps not a lot, to a lot of people.

100 times $300 paints quite a different picture....

That's why I listed my experience as I did. I suggest that this thread be deleted or at least revised so as to not be so negative in light of this thread:

Hey guys... I understand the position that y'all are in, but a public disclosure of this sort of information probably won't serve any good purpose. I am in no way suggesting that you don't have a right to post this stuff on Rennlist here, but in light of recent events here, I would like to encourage you to consider deleting this post, before it winds up as just one more flame war that gets sent to the Abyss. Please?

Why can't we focus on talking about good vendors, such as Paragon and (dare I say it, he gets a lot of good press here) Vitesse, Chris White, and a whole host of others...

Regards,

-$400. I host his website for free (perks of my job), and Danno gave me some parts for my 2.8L project.

I think _if_ John were going to look into Guru's sponsorship, or some individual on the list wanted to persue a case it would be fair to ask this and ask for private (email or PM) responses, but I'm not sure a public airing is good. I would love to see Danno satisy his customers without legal action, but I also think an individual who wants to persue satisfaction has a right to ask people to step forward with other claims, assuming they would state their real name and not just make some vauge anonymous statement. But I think it should be done off-list.

I have my $0.02 in, and I have had dealings with Danno although no money was involved and no bad feelings.
